In the below picture, you can see that I have two farmers for a low cow population. The issue is that they let the milk go to rot rather than transfer it when there’s nothing to do. Is this a setting on the AI that any produced milk must be greater than a certain amount before it will get sent out? I feel like it’s a bug that the AI will idle instead of transferring produced goods out of the building.
That’s how it works. Until You get cheesemakers there’s no point in milk production. Only wagon will take it to temp shelters or grocer if there’s no food closer.
I’ve seen the farmers move the milk when it was at 58 or so, without having a cheesemaker, which is what leads me to believe the AI only acts if the amounts in the Barn’s storage exceed certain numbers. Milk is considered a food, albeit a very short lifetime food.
For me they produce around 125 per milking and only cheesemakers take it. Farmers move it only when they butcher cows and have a lot of stuff in storage. Still when butchering they now focus o transferring meat.
Running out of storage space is a reason to move goods out but otherwise, they can allow other characters to come pick them up at the barn. There is nothing to indicate yet weather milk will keep longer in the barn or in any other storage location as the root cellar is the closest thing they have to refrigeration anyway. You can’t even sell milk in the trade post.
