[1.0.0.4] Dual Wield cadence broken?

Hello.

First post here. I hope I am posting in the right section.

I have started a new Blademaster character today; first as soldier (using cadence) and then assigning one point to dual wield at level 10.

To my surprise my dps is BETTER with just one single weapon.

Is this a bug?

I attach some sample captures.

Maybe your second weapon sucks.

And what is that supposed to mean?

Making a substraction doesn’t make any sense. Both weapons have got some bonuses to attack speed and cunning.

Besides. I have got the same behaviour with different weapons (even with an epic one [blue]).

What is your DPS without cadence?

I don’t know. Probably the one that is already displayed.

Cadence is working fine as far as I know (magnyfing every third strike).

This bug seems to be related to dual wield instead of cadence. Not sure.

Meanwhile here are two screen captures showing weapon properties.

There is a big difference in dps when there is no left weapon equipped.

PS. @ASYLUM101:

Sorry for the delay. I think you mean This:

And this is with just one weapon:

Well. Hitting some foes doesn’t make any sense for me either…

This is how it goes…

15-30, 15-30, 500-700 (white numbers)

60-80, 60-80, 600-800+ (yellow bold numbers)

I guess yellow numbers must be critical hits. Not sure.

All these numbers are approximates. It’s difficult to see the numbers in the middle of combat.

There is no bug here, man…the cadence dps counter calculates an average over three strikes: main hand - off hand - main hand (x cadence multiplier). The only way dps could remain the same is if the 2 weapons you have equiped have exactly identical stats.

So the DPS is just a mathematical average? Hmm. Makes sense this way. Otherwise it seems that wielding dual weapons is worse than single loadout.

Thanks for claryfing things up.

The dual wield line shines when you stack +% pierce damage, have nice swords with high armor piercing, high attack speed AND you get to the execution WPS in the nighblade tree.

DO NOT combine it with cadence !

Well. I can always switch to blade + shield. I have just invested one point in DW.

Thanks again.

The reason for this (in case OP is wondering) is because cadence “overrides” a weapon proc with an animation of its own.

Ok.

Thank you guys.

Ok I read the thread but I still don’t understand it.

In my case, when I equip one weapon the DPS is higher than with two. But in the damage per hit tab, it shows that with two weapons the damage per hit is greater, also the attack speed is faster. So how can the DPS be lower??

I don’t use exactly Cadence, but the Psionic Touch ability from a mod that works the same.

Hey I was using PT too, and it only works on the main hand… You will have more procs while DW because of the speed, but it will only use the main hand… The dev told me this, and probably won’t change it

In my case I was playing Demolitionist / Dream… and I switched to fire strike from Demolitionist… My dps is waaay higher now ^^

Hmm ok but I still don’t understand why that results in lower DPS.^^

When you equip only 1 weapon, PT will only use the main hand anway (because there is only 1 weapon), so even if you add a second weapon and PT doesn’t work on it, you should gain the slight damage increase from its base damage? I mean what exactly causes it to make less damage?

I checked ingame and no matter if dual wield or not, every 4th strike is a PT hit.

Why?

It works pretty nice, and I do agree that he needs to stack pierce and atc speed.

This is a completely different thing, I don’t have any problem with WPS, also I don’t want to build a blademaster.

Even if Zolhan’s only hits with one weapon it still works like your normal WPS even in DW Blademasters right? i.e it still adds on to the existing default attack modifier right? (provided cadence isn’t the default attack modifier)

Yea it ads up the %weapon damage to fire strike %weapon damage for example. For the fact that it hits with only one weapon it kind of compensates with more % weapon damage if more skills are invested. On the downside you probably don’t get dot’s applied from your off-hand for example…can’t have everything, not for lack of trying

Thanks
