[1.0.5.0] Purifier for very fast and safe 150-170 farming

Thanks for this build! Looks good

What is the purpose of taking wolverine devotion? Does that small extra def ability matters?

Would it be better if you swap Oklaine’s Lantern, Wolverine, Hawk and Eel devotions for Phoenix, Quill and Tortoise ones? You trade near 50 off and def ability for extra dps and phoenix and tortoise procs

Skip to the last sentence if you just want a straight answer cause idk why I typed this long af paragraph. Read it if you like though.

This build is optimized for 151-170 gladiator, and in there, defense is king. There are a few types of defense that will work there and ridiculously high DA is one of them as exhibited by this build. One of the core principles in making crucible builds (that I think most cruci builders apply) is that enough DPS is enough. Once you achieve that ‘enough’ level, you focus on defense (whatever defensive mechanism that may be) until you have more than enough to be confident not to be killed, then you more dps if you can still afford it.

So tl;dr - author wants to have absolute confidence that he’ll facetank gladiator and that has priority over extra damage.

Well because it’s not really small compared to the extra dps which would be small.
I tried out your suggested change in grimtools and it would increase my burn modifier from 1565% to 1610% (so around 3% more burn damage) while at the same time costing me 8% crit damage from hawk, 130 OA, and 150 DA.
So in the end I’d end up with 150 less DA (which is a big difference at these numbers) and less dps most likely if you account for the decrease in crit chance and damage.

The tortoise proc is pretty much useless for a build that doesn’t die and will rarely drop that low, and while the phoenix proc would be really nice to have and I spent a lot of hours trying to squeeze it into my setup, the DA is just worth more to me.
If you want to use phoenix, my previous setup used the tower and phoenix instead of chariot and wolverine.

Hi, I am quite new to Grim Dawn and found this build very nice. I would like to ask how I should build it while leveling (prioritizing skill & devotion points). Thanks a lot!

For skills, start off with maxing BWC and its transmuter. You can clear enemies very fast with it, just throwing it into a group and moving on while they burn to death.
Afterwards get flame touched, blast shield and flashbang depending on if you feel you need more damage or more survivability.
Go for thermite mines when you feel like you need extra single target damage.

For a good single target skill before you have maxed BWC, you can start off using fireball from searing ember.

For devotions, I’d try to get Ulzuin’s Torch as soon as possible. Start off with Fiend for flame torrent, then head for Magi to get Fissure then go for the Torch.
The procs are a big part of this build and will help your damage out a lot.

I level the build so:

  1. https://www.grimtools.com/calc/wV1GMrzN
  2. https://www.grimtools.com/calc/eVLBvOGN
  3. https://www.grimtools.com/calc/4ZDDeqpZ

word of pain oneshot nearly everything till elite.

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/62aOK8XZ this is me in elite now. with the bwc stuff. word of pain would oneshot packs too and would be faster.
BWC is so cluncky to play outside of crucible.

Leveling as inquisitor works too and lets you get Aura of Censure earlier which is a huge help.

I leveled this build as demo since I wanted a BWC build but inquisitor is a great leveling class too.

Have you managed to kill the Ravager with the build?

I opted for of Minds (since all my elemental resists are overcapped with 100+) and i get wrecked once he enrages even with consumables :frowning:

Managed to down Mog though and Lokarr is a joke anyway.

Would appreciate any tips how to take down Ravager of Minds

I haven’t tried Ravager yet, Mog was pretty relaxed even without consumables.
Ravager would probably take some changes in components to get higher armor so I’ve been putting it off.

Hi there
Im trying to level a purifier to try this build.
At the moment im using Word of pain as main damage skill.

Any help/advice/changes would be appreciated in terms of skills/gear/relic.

Looking forward to any replies/suggestions

I’ve been having some fun with this build! Thanks for posting it.

hi. few questions.

any good substitute for amulet? (currently don’t have b’print)

and which is better between “dranghoul” and “renewal” suffix.

playing this build and currently lv84

Without that amulet this build has low aether res, you could use peerless eyes of beronath / green amulet with good res.
Ofc Dranghoul, more OA/DA and armor. Renewal only gives u some hp/mp reg.

For the amulet slot, you could use peerless eye (or maybe peerless essence of beronath), the demo version of the conduit or even avenger of cairn for its resistances and +max resistances. If you have it I’d probably recommend the avenger since it makes it easier capping your resistances even when you are still lacking some other pieces.

The build has its resistances overcapped by a good amount, but you might have to change some components around and go for something with resistances on your weapons to make up for the missing aether res.

Dranghoul is by far better since you want to get as much DA (and if possible OA) as you can.

Hope the build is working out well so far!

thanks for the replies guys. i just fit in the gears that i had. few resist is not over-capped but build still working. for now don’t have mythical gears.

it turn out to be like this —> https://www.grimtools.com/calc/YVWqeprN

any suggestion on components/augments?

How do you tell how many points were spent on an ability vs how many are from gear? Only way to check each piece and add it up?

PRess ctrl+shift when checking skills in grimcalc

Hey man - how gutted is the build in the new patch?

My variant, not complete, before the patch, could complete 100-150 easily. Completed 150-170 with two buffs. Post patch, it died on round 103
