[1.0.6.0] Faceroll aether Battlemage & Death Knight (no MI, s&b, cdr, 25min gladiator)

This build looks very nice. I’ve been looking for a build that can take on Ravager, Mogdrogen, and all super bosses and do Gladiator Crucible farming. Seems DK and BM are both equally viable based on your testing?

Crucible farming - sure.
DK can kill Ravager, even with offensive devotions (and 3k DA), I had video confirmation. With defensive devotions it should be even easier, though I didn’t test it. BM is nearly the same as DK so I see no reasons why he can’t do it.
But you must know that different Ravagers deal different types of damage, so you need to overcap specific resistances.
And Mogdrogen is easier than Ravager, only lightning overcap needed.

Thank for build

I’ve been having a great time with this build, went through all Ultimate, no problems with anyone so far…except Lokarr. Using the Time Dilation setup, I can barely last half a minute before dying. I don’t have the shield or pants, but otherwise setup is identical. Any tips?

I want this! Farming for Krieg’s set now.

First, you can try switching off Dying God proc not to inflict self-damage.
Second, you can try kiting him: 3 hits with Cadence, Blitz and then run until Blitz is off cooldown.
Third, you can try to add a couple of items with DA, like Cord of Deception.

After all, you can switch to defensive setup and Lokarr will probably not do you any damage at all.

Hi there, nice build  Started playing again after a long time and love the battlemage, now a question: apart from respeccing to aether later on, when can i use 1h+shield? Is 2h so much better all the campaign? just cause i want to use 1h+shield :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m currently leveling a death knight for that version of the build, I’ve finally farmed up all the pieces of Krieg’s set (the chest to the longest - 10 hats to 1 chestpiece) but as a player without a lot of items yet I’m looking for opinions on an alternative weapon. I realize nothing will come close to mindwarp (which I don’t have) as BiS for this build, but I’d like something that will allow me to reliably farm Challenger to 150 to help me farm gear. My current best geared character is a Cabalist who is successful if somewhat slow at farming the campaign, but inconsistent at crucible (plus I’m inexperienced with crucible which doesn’t help). Of the legendaries I have available to me, Edge of Sanity and Mythical Warborn Gavel seem about the best for a build like this. I also have some level 90+ Epics as well. Or, If there is a MI or faction weapon, I could look for those as well. Basically, I’m not sure what would work well until I can find a Mythical Mindwarp.

as an FYI I haven’t gotten far enough with this character to be able to spec into the final build, and I’m still leveling as a 2-h forcewave build, and I may be concerned over nothing. This build may able to run Challenger crucible just fine with less than optimal gear as i farm for better stuff. I just don’t have enough experience to know. I’ll be happy to have any advice anyone is willing to share, thanks.

Nothing’s stopping you from using sword & shield, 2h forcewave is really efficient but do what you want  Nobody’s coming to your house and hitting you for not following the guide.

I was using this MI for a long time, it can add some crazy amount of aether damage, like 240% and has RR. Probably not optimal at all but it worked fine til level 92. Found a regular Mindwarp then and it wasn’t that much of an improvement. Mythical version was but that came much later. Basically figure out if you’re lacking damage or survivability and prioritize those on your weapon.

Pretty good advice given there.
Ofc nobody forbids using 1h+shield for leveling. It’s just that you’ll have significantly less damage than with 2h, and shield is for survivability which is not that much of a problem in campaign.

Alternative weapons: ordinary Mindwarp, Heart of Theodin Marcell (green MI), Fleshwarped Core (2h green mace).

My issue is also going to be what works fine in Campaign won’t work as well in Crucible. Heart of Theodin Marcell you linked is gettable, but I’ll have to see how survivable I am. As with everything, I’ll have to fine tune as I go, and figure out how to stay alive while I’m doing it. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks, having a MI option is nice, because I know I can farm that. I actually also have a Fleshwarped core, but never considered a 2H weapon because I didn’t think it would be all that safe - especially with my less than practiced Crucible play. Thanks for the reply.

Ok thx for the answers! I thought the damage was the reason but asked anyway

went in blind, did new dungeon hardcore.
came out on top

I’ve been leveling this build and I think I’m going to go this route for devotions as I’m not a tortoise fan:
https://www.grimtools.com/calc/eZPoYxmV

I didn’t actually calculate it all out, but I think it should end up with more HP, maybe very slightly less DA, and I think more armor.

Sure, why not. The differences are pretty minor. Tortoise is not the best skill there, but it works pretty fine particularly is this build that does not have that much HP for a tank. And Aetherfire - well, many people find is totally useless, including me.
But again, changing one unimportant devotion is insignificant. Going your own way is far more satisfying than following others. Enjoying the game is what really important.
Good luck!

Yea, the main difference is that I was able to finish the last two points in Targo and get the 8% life node from tree. Really Imp is more for the nodes and completion bonus, aetherfire is just a little something extra. I’ll let you know how it goes once I finish leveling and get some missing gear.

One more question, why max CT? Is the damage once geared out worth it, it seems like it’s main function is devotion procs.

Are points not better spent maxing say maiven’s, and putting more in military conditioning or arcane will?

Yeah, I think the damage is worth it. It deals pretty noticeable damage in my opinion. Investing more points in military conditioning or arcane will is worthless, they give too little result after 10/10 (or 12/12), you won’t gain even 1% damage/tankiness that way.

Alright cool thanks for the reply. It’s hard for me to tell right now because I’m lvl 90 and don’t have the set yet, but am starting to assign my last bunch of points.

Hello!

What are your thoughts on Siphon Soul? At least it looks cool on paper.
