Cleverly put and would have been valid maybe a few patches ago. It’s a bit late in patch 0.8 ,+hotfixes in between, to disrupt established ways for melee builds to have sustain.
I won’t argue any further because i know you pleaded with crate for this change to haunted steel (see how called it “change” and not “nerf”).
Also with the incoming nerfs to soldier and this …change…to haunted steel now builds like the physical cadence commando or WB will have to look towards devotions for life steal. So Revenant or Ghoul (most likely ghoul beacuse it doesn’t require 8 chaos). Effectively another dmg nerf because the Dire bear path is no longer reliable.
Or go for tree of life (forsaking OA) which is not enough in crucible, you still need ATdcH.
Leaving Haunted steel out of the arguments above as an actual option was deliberate and i think obvious with the incoming soldier nerfs to phys damage.
Oh, I think he knows exactly what he’s talking about.
— Bat: 3% Life Steal, proc with (20% main hand + pierce (hello Nightblades) + vit) x2, 45% damage dealt to health (x2 = hit one enemy get 90%).
— Ghoul: 4% Life Steal, crazy proc, +15% aspeed, 50% Life steal and some life leech on top. All that not even at max level (I have it on 17/20) Would go off at 45% new patch also, much less scary than 30% plus nice synergy wit turtle as failsafe.
— Revenant: first node = easy to grab 3% life steal.
And my battlemage uses scales. It’s doing far more jackshit than you think. So much in fact, that after trying to respec into Tree of Life, I changed back — cause Scales gave me better energy and health sustain. And no, this guy doesn’t have great +% vit (+186%, mostly from “All damage”). Also he is physical damage oriented, and using Oleron’s Might on his main weapon, surviving stuff pretty good, too.
Wendigo — yes, Mark is probably only good on vit builds, although grabbing it as an afterthought with non-vit Witchblade and binding to CoF or pox, would work quite well too I think… against crowds, at least.
Please stop acting like a “know-it-all”, cause either you didn’t tried constellations you talk about at all or tried them quite a few patches ago/on wrong chars.
Whatever it is you’re attacking me for, it wasn’t for what I had actually said. Here’s my actual exchange with Edward Teach:
Look at the notes, all the life steal in devotions have been removed unknown why/ i don’t thing there’s a fair reason though…
“All” the life steal in devotions… except Bat, Ghoul, and Revenant. Or the procs on Scales and Wendigo.
I don’t know why you suddenly think it’s relevant to start bringing in vitality %damage, cooldowns, and other non sequiturs. My response was simply “nope they weren’t all removed, here are some ways that life steal still exist on devotions”. Unless… do you feel that vitality-based procs don’t qualify as “all the life steal in devotions”? Because yes, they’re “life steal” and they’re granted by devotions.
Nowhere did I claim that vitality procs have the same gameplay mechanics as ADCtH bonuses to weapon attacks. In fact, I listed them separately and even labeled the procs separately since they have a different “life steal” mechanism. You’re attacking your own imaginary straw man.
You also might want to follow your own complaints about incivility (for example), since you’ve immediately attacked and slandered me for my supposed ignorance of game mechanics despite absolutely no provocation. In the spirit of civility and charity, I will assume that you had simply misread and responded in haste, rather than due to any malice or ineptitude as you had assumed of me.
I think the issue is that there are too little ways to get reliable sustain in the game. Currently there are several ways to get that:
High damage mitigation from permanent block
High regeneration (Tree of Life)
High ADctH
Wendigo Totem
Post-patch you lose 26% of your damage if you want to use perma-block and physical damage for shield users got nuked as well. ADctH for %wpn skills is now only found in Revenant, which requires 8 red affinity, while physical damage constellations require yellow/purple/blue affinity. Totem is restricted to Shaman
Other sources of ADctH are now too tighly linked with Vitality damage or unreliable. Picking Bat for 3% ADctH is a really bad joke, Ghoul has too high cooldown, Tip the Scales and Wendigo constellation requite high vit% dmg. Behemoth is good while the proc is on, but it has 20sec downtime. Charot of the Dead is more about the DA - the heal is not good enough for sustain. Despite the short CD Dryad is just not enough.
My prediction is that most builds that are not Shaman and can’t fit Revenant will switch towards using Tree of Life, which will become the new meta. Expect ToL nerfs in 1.09.
What do you qualify as “high” for ADctH?
Anyway, you don’t need “high” ADctH if you do enough damage: you get as much sustain with 50% ADctH while at 6k dps than with 5% ADctH while at 60k dps
I have a caster that performs quite correctly with only the 4% ADctH provided by the Ghoul.
No, he did not. Closed Testing isn’t congress with lobbyists pushing their corporate Life Steal agendas (or if it is…where’s my money?!).
I recall it coming up once but by that point I was already going through Damage Converted to Health (fine, not % leech, since we’re all about semantics right now :p) sources.
As with all changes coming with any patch…play when the patch goes live and adjust if needed and realize that the sky has not fallen. Or maybe the game will finally be dead as foretold dozens of times since Build 9 or so.
Anyway I dont see problem here, lets make Vitality builds have easy shithloads of ADCTH while others have to take shitloads of suboptimal things to have any, guess ADCTH is something reserved for vitality dmg only
My Conjurer approves the changes, he had only 18-22% ADCTH + Bat proc + Vendigos mark, he really needed more
I use 2x Bonespike and feel immortal cause Vitality has more than enough ADCtH sources
Is that axe good (Damnation, right?), never tested it
Also use BM Talisman, how’s the Solael proc treating you?
-Actually, i do have one Plaguebearer’s Bonespike of Voracity. A friend says he has some nice daggers, but he wants a Tyrant’s Aetherwarped Axe of Fury in return and i hate valbury
-RR and DG are awesome, not to mention how much ADCtH vitality builds innately have
