[1.1.3.0] Vanquisher Fire Sentinel, semi-beginner friendly and practically farmable

If there’s something like College of Grim Dawn then I should try to get a PhD there and my thesis title would be “On the Efficiency and Flexibility of the Vanquisher Set”.

Actually I’m going to put your cold Dervish idea between acid and pierce dervish in my todo list, because I don’t have that Gildor’s Pulverizer crossbow yet, while Alkamos sword is at least something I can farm relatively easily. Not to mention that I can update my Zarthuzellan’s Archive along the way.

Nice!

I hope there is college degree with GD.Like there is a degree, philosophy in Star Trek,so why not.

MH without the helm and spamming CT with fire Devastation is squishy, but pretty spectacular as well.Point for Gryffindor,Mr Picard!

So I managed to complete SR 65-70 and 70-75 both in the first attempt with the recently updated setup, and updated the OP accordingly (referred to as the Build 2 there).

I’m quite happy with the current state of the build right now, so maybe I will do some more farming in SR 75-76 to confirm its performance later, then move on to the next skater build on my list, probably an acid sentinel. I’m also considering submitting this one to the Compendium, though I’m not so sure about those tags yet (especially the gear tag).

TBH I didn’t expect this build can reach SR 75 at all when I started writing the OP, I thought it would be at best 50-60ish :innocent: It has been a loooooooot of fun.

I can help you with tags and submission.

I have worked a lot with a skater shieldbreaker for beginners. I have GT link in my collection-thread (for the SoT, BoC farmer version - I have with small adjustments also PV and AG versions. Plan is to farm SoT and BoC first, then AG and end with PV. Due to the fire damage, BoC and AG is slow but doable)

Okay so there has been some discussion on the gear tag in the compendium thread and it seems that both of my builds in OP will be G4, which does not sound to be very “practically farmable” despite I still think so.

So to support my claim I’ve decided to make another setup that only uses blue gears except for the offhand and the Vanquisher set, which makes it G2 according to the new standard:

So my draft G2 setup is like this: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/Q2zA9YLN
The stats actually doesn’t look too bad, I’m going to test it in SR 60-61 and maybe 65-66 or even deeper to see if it works or not.

You should also qoute this

and that there are others, like me and @Pareto and many more that are against this “no green” mantra.

Perhaps get blazeheart? it is a guranteed purple so its definitely G1-G2 tag on that
https://www.grimtools.com/calc/YNnWkXA2 I also changed some skills around.
EDIT: crap, might be hard to fulfill cunning requirement of using that dagger…
had to use Occultist mastery bar… https://www.grimtools.com/calc/4Vx4KpeV ugly solution

Thanks, yours looks better than mine in both VM skill level and OA in exchange of +4% CDR. If I have the time I’ll maybe also try out your setup.

Yeah physique and spirit is already very tight in my setup lol, I also thought about some swords but couldn’t figure out how to get that cunning. Using mastery bar seems to be a good idea in your setup because Blazeheart provides +1 OK skills which more or less frees up some points.

In practice it won’t be that difficult to meet those requirement tho, because that gloves drop a lot so you can aim for a +5% spirit, and the medal is a faction gear so it’s also super easy to find a +4% physique and +4% spirit.

True, one can powershop for highest rolls on phys and spirit on the faction medal.

Also, blazeheart has higher vit > fire conversions which means a bit more effective heal from bat’s twin fang proc.

I wanted to use that faction medal on my shieldbreaker but I had a hard time filling acid resistances… Sentiel is OP

So I tried my G2 setup in SR 65-66, cleared in time, though died twice in 66 boss room (Benn + Kaisan + Janaxia + Slathsarr Aethergaze).

The combination in 65 boss room was a disaster with Grava + Gabal which are the ones I hate the most, but Zantarin helped me a lot with his skeleton army :innocent: so I didn’t die there, and this is actually the first time I beat Grava in SR 65+ boss room without dying.

I think the G2 setup is pretty solid, though the damage is maybe not as good as the G4 one. I also miss the trap resist provided by the Grey Magi boots a lot, it has been quite useful against Benn.

Yeah that might help quite a bit in survival. But I also like the 4% CDR on my scepter, it’s 0.96s CDR to Ascension which is quite big, especially because I usually don’t engage when Ascension is down. Compared to 23% CDR, that is about 11% reduction to Ascension downtime.

Tomorrow will probably make thread, collection with my beginner guides.I will list your under other players builds, since it contain so much info!

That would be great, thanks! I just hope I didn’t write anything wrong / misleading.

Okay so I’ve just tested my G2 setup in SR 75-76 and cleared it in the first attempt, in time, without Aggro cheesing (so I aggroed everyone altogether, just as usual). No shrines / buff pots / aether clusters.

Screenshot

Died several times in SR 75 against Benn + Zantarin + Korvaak + Sister Crimson Vengence of Kymon in FG town map, mostly due to I being not used to fight Benn without Grey Magi boots. Otherwise the fights were pretty manageable.

Actually I suspect this setup is even better than my G4 ones due to having extra HP, that HP helped a lot in preventing me from getting one-shotted, which was 80% of the case when I got killed with G4 setups.

I’ll update the OP accordingly, and I’m gonna submit it to the compendium. I think it’s perfectly legit to use the tag G2 and SR+ now. Hooray for the skater builds!

nice dude well done!

Hopefully my shieldbreaker can do similar performance with g2 tag (perhaps you wanna testplay it at some point?)
Acid res is gonna be hard to get on shieldbreaker without greens though :frowning:

Thanks, just finished updating the OP.

Sure if you could send me the save file when you finished it then I can try to pilot it, though I haven’t ever played a demo and probably can’t play it with full potential.

and you probably have 10 times more experience in skating in SR than me so I guess you’ll still have the edge

Udars will be appointed as Skater specialist and have to repair or drive peoples skateboards.

Btw,info I tried that and in new forum you can attach your build under posts or private messages in ZIP format.Site supports 4mb files and one file folder is around 1mb.

Yay, just made a submission to the compendium.

Thanks, but I guess I still have to learn how to properly use Thermite Mine first
I think I read it somewhere that it is not easy to use for a mobile build.

I hope someday I can become the Deputy Minister of Skating. Minister will be x1x1x1x2.

So that means we can send save files via PM, that’s quite handy, thanks.

Thermite mines sucks on mobile builds, yes.Usually best usage of them is to lay them and go back and forth in same area.In SR boss rooms they should not give you problems, though.

That sounds quite exactly the same as what I have been doing in a boss fight
So that means maybe Thermite Mines are easier to use in a skater build, which is a great news.

Yeah I just place the mines here and there and hope for the best basically on the shieldbreaker lol
