[1.1.8.0] Storm Knight - Primal Strike with a shield Archon, SR 65+

hi
how can i use primal strike and aegis of menhir
primal strike is requires two hand weapon aegis of menhir need shield
thax in advance.

Well look into my build. Stormrend axe enables one handed Primal Strike and I have also a shield with it that suupports lightning Aegis of Menhir. But Stormrend is available from level 94. Until then you have to level Primal Strike with 2 handed weapon or level in another way.

Looks fun as! How do you use primal strike with a 1 hander? (new player)

By using the axe this build has.

You need THAT specific axe. So this is not a build you can start with, you need to wait until you A] have the axe and B] are level 94 to equip it.

Look for ā€œbeginnerā€ builds when you’re a new player, those work right from the start. There’s a bunch for primal strike, and some for archon, but I don’t think there’s any for a lightning primal strike archon in particular. So if you want to play this build you’ll need to figure out stuff yourself while leveling. (You can take hints from guides for other primal strike class combos, though.)

List of beginner’s builds & guides:

(Note that not all are updated for the latest patches but that generally does not matter too much at low levels.)

Edit: I note this build has not been updated in years either, so may well also be outdated.

Ahhh gotcha, thanks bro! Appreciate it!

Most of the beginner guides that I’ve seen ( a LOT ) arent really that friendly haha I’ve just come from last epoch where you check a 15 min video it has game play, boss fight but covers off which skill points go where as you level up. Most of the GD stuff I’ve seen they fly through that step, videos are waaaay longer and they talk about things which as a beginner I have no clue and then you see me post things like the above lol

Closest I saw was a blitz build that had screen shots of the char every 10 or so levels but again doesnt say where I should apply the points first for best practise just ā€œheres me at 30ā€ lol

PS not whinging just saying lol I’ve got 5000+ hours in poe1, 800 in poe2, 1600 in Last Epoch so you’d think I should be able to figure it out but I find GD a lot more complex and to be fair playing it on vet from the start also harder, its a refreshing change, love it

I’ve never much played other ARPGs (besides Titan Quest, this game’s spiritual predecessor) so I can’t compare how other games do it.

But to understand this game, you need to understand the Grimtools website. Every build links it, because it is the single best resource for this game. Guides typically provide grimtools links instead of writing out what you need to take, and these then show you where the skillpoints go and how many points were spent on stats, etc.

The site also includes stats on every item in the game, AND the locations where they drop on a map if there is a specific one. (if no location is provided, it’s a random drop. Beginner’s guides generally do not include randomly dropped items, though. They tend to rely on guaranteed items to help new players.)

But yeah, guide quality does vary and generally this game has a much smaller player base so you won’t find the same depth of resources.

On the other hand, especially at low levels you really do not NEED to follow a specific guide. And you don’t need point-by-point leveling advice either. The game is reasonably forgiving and doesn’t have too many gotchas… at least in the early game. If something looks like it should work, it usually will. And if you make a mistake with a skill or devotion, or want to try out something else, respeccing skills is very cheap and easy and available right from the start. The game is designed to reward exploration and experimentation.

A lot of the game mechanics are… pretty opaque and weird, though. It took me absolutely ages to get my head around the resistance reduction mechanics. (There are three different types that apply in different ways. The reason seems to be ā€œlegacy code, we can’t change it.ā€)

But you probably won’t need to worry about them too much until you try elite/ultimate difficulty. By then if you’re interested there’s some helpful guides in the tutorials section.
