[1.1.9.0] Beginner's Apex Death Knight

Hello, I’ve played like 40-50h in the past, just on my own, beating regular game back when there were no exp.

Now I’m taking a look about all these builds.

If I’m not wrong, all these budgets and SSF builds are made just to farm the high level items for other builds?

That’s up to you. You don’t have to farm if you don’t want to. Any class can make it to the end of Ultimate difficulty with reasonable gear.

If you want to do so called endgame stuff like hunt/farm Nemesis bosses, do Crucible runs in stupidly fast times or go extremely deep into the Shattered Realm then yes, you will need special gear.

I mean, if you don’t have an endgame build already to farm SR or CR, than these builds will do you quite well. Obviously they have potential to be much stronger with endgame gear, but you gotta farm or trade for it.

Congratz with your first level 100 on HC!

Hi there, @Stupid_Dragon! Almost a year ago wanted to try this DK for myself and now, with all the changes, I have a question, really sorry if it was answered earlier :frowning:
How should one change devotion map to incorporate Dire bear proc whilst not hampering the build’s effectiveness? Is it needed in the first place? Seems like armor shred with changes to converted phys dmg is kinda mandatory. Can you give me heads-up on that please?

This build never relied on converted phys gimmick even when it was a thing. Most of it’s damage is unconverted phys. Since removal of that gimmick came with adjustments to enemy armor I’d argue the build should be performing better.

You say that, but it’s almost been a year I last touched Grim Dawn. :upside_down_face:

Oh… That I didn’t consider :frowning:
Still, thank you for the reply, if you would happen to be able to answer my question, I would be certainly most glad!

Just hit level 74 and really enjoying the game so far. It was mentioned in the Leveling 76-84 section that the database specifies that the Krieg items drop starting at level 75+. Looking at the information on GrimTools for either the items themselves or the bosses and I’m not seeing this info.

Just wanted to know if this information was still current or if there was a patch that just removed the level restrictions or if they are referring to a different database or if I’m just blind.

Mostly just want to know for the future if I’m looking for a different item how I can see when I can start farming for it.

Question: when you say SR 65 are you speaking of SR 65 normal or Ultimate? And I assume you mean doing both 65 and 66 yea?

Ultimate. And yes, 65-66 is the way to get the loot room.

Thanks alot for the build+guide ! im a newbie and following it ,currently level 47 ! However im kinda sturggling to figure out what items i want to keep or what armor/acc/weapon to use.
Sometimes ill get some axes/mace that shows more damage than my War cleaver Axe. and idk if theyre better or not. Same for gear, some armor will be higher “armor” but some lacks resistance/have bleed/fire damage for example. What should I focus on ?

Focus on resists for armour but don’t be afraid to shuffle around higher level armour in place of lower level stuff.

As for weapons it depends on how you are levelling. Forcewave? Go for obsidian cleaver that drops from Chthonic enemies. Affixes like ‘Superior of Ruin’ or something should be quite fine. DPS tooltip can be quite misleading at times, keep that in mind.

thats my question ,if i have like 300 armor item but with resistance and some physical damage, but another item that got like 500+armor but with stuff like fire damage and/or less resistance for example, which one should i go for ? cause i have so many items that idk if its an upgrade or not. as for the weapon,i am using forceweave at the moment,so should i go only for items that gives/boosts my Forceweave as much as possible instead of raw damage/pierce/physical damage? cause i had a mace that said +500 dps,but it has less Forceweave damage

Depends. It may not matter so much for normal difficulty but Elite and especially Ultimate really punish you for not capping resists. So get in the habit of prioritizing resists over damage.

Also depends. Usually items with modifiers for your main dmg skill and with decent affixes are better overall. I’d stick with your MI for now.

Ok thanks ! can u tell me what damage are we focusing on ? is it physical/aether cause i dont have a real clue tbh

I can tell you but first tell me this: go into your game or Grimtools and look at the Forecwave skill description+nodes…. Also your weapon gives what type of damage to forcewave?

Oh so its physical damage ? and my War cleaver is:https://i.gyazo.com/bb0ee7fb1f07c098a71b005cf568a386.png
im assuming u wanted to teach me how to see what type of damage does skill,Forceweave:

Yes physical damage. Keep in mind that Forcewave scales with casting speed not attack speed. So you’d want something like Officer’s of Celerity or something, preferably find one with casting speed and %physical damage. Also pick up field command and max it’s second node (forget what it’s called but it gives attack and casting speed).

Edit: and get Kraken in devotion path ASAP!

Ok gotcha! ya i know it casting speed from one of the threads ive read. I do level kraken and field command, basically im following 1 on 1 as the guide
