[1.1.9.6] DoT gunslinger Templar

This isn’t a very good build but it has some pieces that fit together nicely so I feel like sharing: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/Q2zERXkN

We have a below average amount of direct damage from IEE and a boatload of DoT from Overload. We have a modest 162% WD Righteous Fervor, 136% WD from Smite and 120% from Korvaak’s Brand. Not the best, but beats relying on single weapon source like Cadence. Plus, Oathkeeper brings some RR to the table. The class combo also brings a lot of OA and crit damage, which helps the DoT when they stick.

Korvaak’s Deception seems to be a perfect fit for the build. It’s a periodic burst/AOE damage that helps clearling weaker enemies. Typically a well placed shot can apply enough DoT to clear a hero mob in the Crucible.

The build otherwise isn’t very exciting. Most notably it has low DA, modest health, low RR and poor leech efficacy due to much of the damage being leech.

vs Mageslayer
I’ve tried Mageslayer and it wasn’t really much of an improvement on the gameplan. The wider weapon pool doesn’t improve the character nearly as much since Storm Spread and Chilling Rounds have low weapon damage, which only helps when half your damage isn’t DoT. That said a Mageslayer could use 1 Phasebreaker instead for a bit more Chilling Rounds damage.

Is this beginner friendly?
No.

Why even bother?
Because all that Overload damage has to go somewhere eventually.
