[1.1.9.8-1.2] Beginner Lightning Rune Paladin - With leveling guide, budget setup, end game version

Thanks for the advice.
I was able to solve it.

I still have a few questions, if you don’t mind, I would appreciate your advice.
Ultos (Bind to Rune of Kalastor; leave out chaos resist node)
What does “leave out chaos resist node” mean?

I am using the character in the following state.
I feel my character takes very high damage from the enemy.
Is there anything I am missing in the status?

Means you don’t take the leftmost (350 hp and 15% chaos resist) node, otherwise you won’t be able to finish Korvaak.

You need to cap all resistances (except physical) at 80%. Also remember to spend your attribute points.

You have many gear pieces equipped that do nothing for you: boots, gloves, rings, shoulders that don’t boost lightning damage. Weapon is aether damage. In this game, higher rarity doesn’t automatically good. Your % lightning damage is barely 800%. It should be about 1000% higher than that at this level.

And you have to use the items (monster infrequents) cited in the guide, eg Martin’s Crest, Skybreaker Circlet, etc. cause right now you don’t have a lightning build, you have a fire build with lightning devotion path.

Thank you kindly.
I will try to get my constellation and equipment in order.

Hi
I am collecting gear for a build.
Where can I get the gloves?
Also, do I need to get the exact same prefix suffix for the gear as the build calculator?

Random drop, or transmute. Craftable gloves can be good as well.

You never need to do that. I worked with what I got and so should you.

Thanks.
I would like to craft a glove.
I will try to choose other equipment without worrying too much about the prefix suffix.

Hi.
I am using this build to attack SR60 and I am having trouble getting it to work.
Any suggestions on how to improve the gear?
Also, what are the basic steps I should take to get around this build?

Amulet doesn’t help you, get the ones recommended in the guide. Pants and gloves improve fire damage not lightning, so change those as well. Farm a better shield, flamewall prefix is just retal stuff. Farm a better belt as well, Menacing prefix is not useful.

Thanks, I will try to collect the gear.

Hi
I am trying SR75-76.
I am able to clear that more often than before, but I am struggling with some of the enemies.
In the area where the boss appears with 4 bosses I take them down one by one while kiting the enemy.
However, some enemies may notice me when I kite them.
How should I behave?
I was defeated by Rashalga in an instant.
In an area with four bosses, should I basically face them one at a time?

You should defeat the bosses 1 by 1, but some arenas make it harder that others (namely the one that looks like the conclave of the three).

Rashalga is… something else. When her red glowing aura is on, she will shoot spikes whenever she’s hit by projectiles. Since each runes split into multiple projectiles, you can see how it can go to shit really quick. Be careful and RUN when her aura is on.

SR 75-76 is pretty much as far as I would take the “budget” version of the build. If you want to make it better, have a look at the end game setup in the main post. It has a couple legendary items that improve survivability by a lot, namely the weapon and amulet.

Thanks.
I will collect my equipment.
Thank you for sharing the strategy information for Rashalga .

just wanted to say i’ve had a great time following this build. i’ve played grim dawn a handful of times over the years with friends, but we’ve never gotten past act 2 before scheduling/interest issues cropped up. i made a hardcore character fully expecting to die pretty quickly, but by and large the game so far has been smooth sailing. i haven’t liked miner/trap characters in other games when i’ve played them, but it just clicks in this build for whatever reason. the leveling breakdown and the advice on components have been a great help through the leveling process, and nuking totems is always satisfying.

i’ve just finished AoM on ultimate, although i doubt i’m going to try and push through FG immediately - i did both expansions on normal before pushing to the next difficulty and Korvaak definitely seemed like a fight i’d have died on at a higher difficulty.

Hi
I have had Reaper of the Lost beat me down, what could be the cause?
I lost about 60% of my HP in an instant when I was attacked by a corner the moment I got close to it.
I would like to know how to deal with him.

Hard to say without seeing the grimtools of your character at the moment.

Generally speaking, Reaper has high physical and vitality damage and the wraiths he spawns can reduce your resistances so keep an eye on your debuffs and kite back if needed. Did this happen in shattered realm or main campaign?

I beg your pardon.
My gear has not changed much from the state I was previously consulted by you.

I encountered him on SR 75-76.
I do not know who debuffed me, but is it likely that I was debuffed and defeated by the enemy he generated?
Also, how do you deal with him if you encounter him in this build?

You need vitality overcap vs Reaper but right now your vitality resist isn’t even capped.

I also notice the affixes on your medal and shield aren’t very good. “of Thorns” does literally nothing. Farm a shield with physical resistance. As for the medal, look for more OA and something else than Bloodletter which is just bleed stuff and resists you don’t need. See if you can upgrade your relic to one of the higher level inquisitor ones.

Stack up all your runes before you aggro him and place your seals, then kite when he spawns his ghosts.

Thanks.
I will try to upgrade the vertical and medal.

Hi
I exchanged my medals and shields for different ones, should I get something better?
Should I farm the shield to change the prefix to that of Durable?

Trickster prefix is surprinsingly good, scorching on shield does nothing but it’s hard to farm lightning affix on fire base item. Immovable is not great but not terrible, but durable is better. Btw purple ring has no augment/component.
