[1.2.1.0] Aegis of Retirement: 4:30 Crucible Gladiator 150-170, Shard 90, Celestials, tanky Lightning retaliation caster Archon + couple of bonus retaliation builds by mad_lee

Does it convert the physical damage you get from your retaliation damage?

Absolutely.

@Bas Without it, Physical on Aegis would be fully converted to Pierce by the conduit. Although the % Pierce and Lightning Retal are the same from what I see, the build has nearly 100% more Lightning RR than Pierce RR so it’s gonna be useful, especially for ranged enemies for which Aegis damage is a bigger part of your dps. % Lightning is also higher than % Pierce for non-retal Physical damage on Aegis skill that’s also converted.

@mad_lee @tqFan cool thanks.

So if I understand correctly, retaliation damage itself doesn’t get converted by damage conversions, but it does if it’s added to your attack. But % attack bonuses don’t apply to it? (As that would double with the % retal increase)

retal is affected by conversion

What do you mean by that?

Here’s some info on that in Retaliation chapter Malawiglenn’s guide on game mechanics for beginners - Google Docs it might not answer all your questions but will give you a better feeling for GD mechanics. I’d even suggest to read it fully.

If you have a global +200% fire damage it doesn’t apply to fire retaliation damage. And I assume this is still the case when it gets added as attack damage? (the guide didn’t mention it)

Thanks. I have read this before years ago  I’ve read through it again.

Currently I have the blue belt (from the old version) but not the green one and I can not farm for it as I am working on a different build at the moment. I have all items except for the green belt.

Should I update my build to the 1.2.1.0 version in terms of components, augments, etc or should I just keep it exactly the same as version 1.1.9.8? If I should make only some changes please let me know what they should be.

Thank you in advance for any advice!

I am new to the forums so please let me know I do something wrong!

This of course. As long as you can retain all important resist overcaps (chaos, vitality, acid, elemental) and maintain similiar level of OA you should be fine. If you don’t have Disruption resist from Gildam Arcanum suffix use Arcane Spark in medal tho.

Wanted to start by saying that I’ve previously played this build and loved it immensely. I’ve recently started trying hardcore and was considering trying to run this style of character. I know it isn’t tagged as such, but do you think this build could be hardcore viable? Not trying to do deep endgame with it, but just to make it as a totem farmer perhaps? Thanks in advance!

last i played this monster it could survive eating Grava’s Nulli orbs in SR 75-76
i can’t imagine there would be anything in current game version, (not counting FoA), that totems could possibly throw at this to be even a remote threat

I can take it for a spin on HC against some Celestial Totems or Totems in skeleton key dungeons if you want/need extra confirmation

Celestial totems 100% facetank, didn’t even move from tentacles or vortex, even deliberately pulled Rutnick on the arkovian docks totems
Aether totems with titans etc not even breaking a sweat
Steps of Torment with Monstros/Gargantuans, or ToH totems, nada, just hold down aegis button and brrr.
The only time where health actually dipped below 50% and had to do something else than press aegis was Bastion of Chaos while fighting the boss Lagoth and Grava at the same time (spawned behind when fighting), which was like a giant cluster frack aoe gangbang fight, and still decided to stand still and try eat Grava’s nulli orbs there too. Then while nullied/buffs were turned off finally had to move/not stand still (standing in ground pools too) and use Ascension. Maybe putting down the totem could have helped a bit too but had gotten lazy towards the end

That’s probably like peak worst case scenario, fighting with multiple mutators, and combining totems while getting a nasty nemesis and or boss all at the same time, and still it can survive fine if atleast using some attention to notice the overlap/stacking danger of the multi encounter.

it’s a beast :muscle:,

*kinda felt like shooting flies with a cannon applying this endgame setup to totems, it’s almost not fair to 'em

Yeah, it’s a beast in Deep SR too, even moving points into Crushing Verdict for some DA shred it was flying through the shards. Boss room’s more dicey, but if your brain’s on the ball you can fight 2+ bosses at once.

Valdaran’s obviously a massive pain though. Only having the lesser flat RR from the rings doesn’t help enough compared to Crown or the other devotions.
