[1.2.1.3] The PASSIVIST - How to complete the game without using active skills

Which skill do you use to proc the Widow mines? Or is this a slightly less passive build?

Because if you don’t use the mines, there are better devotions I think, and if it is not stricktly passive, change ‘move-to’ to ‘savagery’ and bomb away, zero extra buttons to press

From the previous link, I think it’s bound to brutal shield slam LMB

What would the fully completed endgame version of this build look like?

I know this is not in the spirit or intent of this thread, so having said that… what are ya’lls thoughts on making a skellington warrior passivist-ish build, with the only active skill being summoning of the skellingtons? If its not appropriate for this thread, ill delete the post =)

Whether it’s appropriate or not, it could probably have its own thread

However, if you like passive gameplay, the skeletons are not the best pets as they need frequent resummons. Maya likely has a build in her guide for the “laziest” pet build.

Which build ?
This thread discussed about 12 of them so far :stuck_out_tongue:

whichever one is the tankiest I’d say, but also dish out good damage, overall the one that scales the most to the endgame.

I can only speak for those that I put out, but my last Trickster felt the best damage-wise. As for tankiness, My elementalist felt basically unkillable, but was lackluster in the DPS department.

I would go Dervish or Trickster.

Basically, anything that builds around Blade spirit will have plenty of damage.

Of the things I didn’t try yet (But soon will), I feel like a blademaster with the blood knight set and a scarab shield would be pretty hard to kill. and would dish out a lot of damage. Unfortunately, for the context of the challenge here, it’s a pretty hard road with basically just night’s chill for damage until level 26… But if it’s less about the challenge and more about the end result, then yeah, definitely doable.

Ive gotten the full Dawnseekers set finally, yay!

Here it is, still working on some gear upgrades.

DeputyChuck, a Nightblade you say, please sir… tell me more =) Ill give it a whirl!

This is a fantastic start!
At a glance, you only need more OA for this to be truly formidable.

It’s a WIP in my mind, but I’ll post a grimtool link once I have it down

Think ill try out a Oathkeeper / Soldier, with a shield, the Blightlord set for another EG, dunno how well it will work, but meh, lets give it a shot!

I think Blightlord would be better suited to something that has better support for fire damage, like a Shieldbreaker (OK|Demo). As for Warlords, the class lends itself really well for retaliation damage because of the tanky passives, retaliation damage scaling and Counter Strike scaling with retaliation damage by default. The main problem is that retaliation is quite painful to level in my experience, and it struggles with renegerating caster mobs. Perhaps going for a physical damage build instead of retaliation can solve that, but I have not theorycrafted for that.

But it will take some time to reach level 94, plenty of opportunity to experiment with all sorts of builds on the way there

Those are really good points Thuter, I am “hoping” that this build doesn’t turn into another Pyrans 3 piece set for the regen and 2hander build like the Archon did, but… the AOE fire damage from the EG’s was just brutal, those boys cleaned house =)

However, with the shield bonus from OK and the colossal shield thinget, perhaps there is a EG/CS build hiding in there somewhere? Dunno, we will find out =)

Thing is, I love my Behemoth and Tree of Life, and the Harvester (scythe looking thinget devo), those are just the health regen goodiness, really works well for me and my playstyle. Throw in some Elemental Storm and WIdow and you got a truck load of damage. There is a thought nagging me in the back of my head about Anvil though, I tried messing around with that a bit on the Warder, and man… Anvil can wreck house, I wonder why folks dont use Anvil more in builds, I must be missing something =)

Oh well, back to the leveling fun!

Oh… another thought just barged into my head, how well does the acid/vitality thinget work for the EG’s, would this work out well for a physical type build? The way I “understand it” is that Elemental damage converts 1/3 of the elemental damage to Lightening/Fire/Cold damage, does Physical damage break down like that for Acid/Vitality etc? if not then probably a moot point =)

That’s not that bad. Night’s chill does plenty of damage early on. (not so much later) Just max it out asap, before you push the mastery bar. It definitely does drop down when you get higher level, but maybe if you respec as soon as possible it’s better? I never did respec and it was ok.

Yes, it’s very painful  I wouldn’t recommend. Maybe you can level with the guardians for a good while? Retal at the start isn’t that terrible, it gets bad a bit further on. So might be possible to use retal leveling to get to guardians, then switch to physical guardians?

Ya know, I have never made a acid/poison/ vitality build, would that work out for the Oathkeeper/Soldier (Warlord) type with emphasis on survivability and scaling up the EG’s? Or is it better to just stay elemental (fire, burning etc) with that idea?

I went ahead and modified an old character to fit. It’s not perfect yet, but it’s pretty damn good so far.

Is there a list someone has or a point in the right direction / thread on what minions (not pets) like WD/EG/BS scale off of and which skills? Dont want to make assumptions on what skill does what lol.

They scale with player stats, just like if they were attacks.

Just go there: Grim Dawn Pet Database
And for type, select “player-scaling pets”

Gotcha, thanks! Was wondering if they scaled with mastery skills like say Mogdrogens pact or Markovians Advantage etc, that will scale players attacks and whatnot. Or from buffs like Field command / squad tactics etc.

All of the above
