[1.2.1.6] Green Rocket: 4:00 Crucible Gladiator 150-170, Ravager, Crate, SR 36 easy to gear Aether PRM Spellbinder

For farming route I really have never thought of it but judging from where it spawns most you can do Pine Barrens into Shaded Basin, pick up Bloodbriar’s, Gollus’ and Ungoliax’ loot on the way and yeah, go try your luck in Tyrant’s. Pick up a char with most teleports, some Dervish would be ideal (or Blitz Warlord).

Is there a way to Gollus’ from the Pine Barrens/Shaded Basin? I’ve always gone through the Royal Hive in the Rotting Croplands west of Homestead but it takes forever so I’m excited if there’s something I’ve missed!

nope, I just mixed up two locations in my mind, Gollus is indeed where you said he is.

Hi!
Thank you very much for posting this build. I have a CT spellbinder that I’m thinking of converting over to this build but I have a few questions.

First question has to do with Ill Omen vs Ravenous Earth (+Decay). I’ve always preferred RE because it seems to be much more effective vs bosses, while Ill Omen is better for mobs. But maybe I’m wrong there? Since usually the most danger is against bosses, wouldn’t RE be the better choice for damage reduction?

My second question is also related to damage reduction - is that the primary reason behind the choice of the magelord rings?

Thank you!

Omen spreads fast and works in bigger radius than RE does. RE has an advantage of being a great proccer (due to multiple projectiles) but it only offers dr where you cast it. Here Omen is superior. They both work the same on bosses in terms of dr.

Magelords are there to convert Elemental to Aether (first and foremost on PRM but also on procs). And they do offer dollar store dr that build procs often due to its high OA so you don’t have to cast Omen unless you are in a serious scuffle.

This is false advertising! This rocket is purple, not green!

But seriously, investment to get full conversion is ridiculous.
One option is Decree of Aldritch but we lose, -18% RR, all our overcap of casting speed (we can fix one with either Band of Eternal Haunt or with green casting speed ring) and +1 to Necro. Bonus is more juicy crit damage.
Second option is Slathsarr’s Crest but it’s pain to farm and we need good rolls. On top of that, to bridge damage gap we need green legs - probably Anasteria with good rolls (we need at least 2 magic +OA rolls on 2 items). Bonus is: ring and shoulder slot are open. We can save a lot skill points with 4 piece Krieg, Eternal Haunt ring (+bonus 10% RR) and Anasteria Legs so more overcap on important skills and +6% more crit damage (with remaining points in Elemental Balance).

It’s totally not worth it. Good rolls on greens to only match much cheaper build and near fantasy rolls (not double rare but at least OA and aether damage) to gain few % of power.
I’ll try it anyway because fashion is more important than performance… You can’t have aether mage firing purple projectiles. It will trigger my OCD.

You got me there, although I meant the sort of… uhm… tobacco that Panetti was smoking when he came up with the spell!

I mean it’s two scrap tier rings and a shoulder that drops by some Cronley dudes (and if you don’t Kill Direni you can keep shaking that snake for the good pair of shoulderpads untill he budges). Feels easy.

Or did you mean if you wanna go the other way for some reason?

More crit is absolutely useless here. Eternal Haunt will be nice to have of course. But Magelords have a lot of value: their proc is your cheap damage reduction deterrent so you don’t waste time casting Ill Omen on low stakes engagement. And their proc also adds a bit of passive leech.

Definitely don’t let sweaty min-maxing get in the way of fashion, I agree! Also please do post your results here if you assemble an alternative spec, I am curious how it’s gonna perform.

Yeah, but that’s 30%+30%+36% with max rolls so not quite there and it triggers my OCD…

That will take a while. Theorycrafting can be done while slacking at work but real farming has to be done in my limited free time.
Currently I’m losing my mind farming Krieg’s chest and there’s still belt, ring and probably legs to get.
It shouldn’t be much worse than your setup with proper rolls, at least. But it’s definitely not worth the extra effort just to get green particle effects…
VFX should be based on dominating damage type and not be “all or nothing”. Panetti with 94% (max I managed to sqeeze) damage converted to aether should be green, not purple!

This would be so nice… one can dream

wcyd. Good news is that something around 85% would be more than enough and rings are really easy to reroll.

Man can dream.

Tryna recreate this build, but man, Chains of Ygraad has to be the worst MI to farm in the whole game :rage: Takes like 10-15 minutes to even get to the boss, and then affixes are always super crap  The +1 arcanist skills and vitality to aether conversion is too good to pass on, but I’m close to losing my damn mind farming this thing! I even got a good version of the offhand already(stalwart of tormented souls), but this stupid belt is my biggest nightmare…and weirdest thing is it seems to have a cold affix bias, although it’s obviously an aether item(damage conversion to aether) and drops from an aether boss in an aether area. But still I keep getting stuff like glacial, of frostbite etc. Like wth??
Edit: LOL, you know, sometimes you just need to complain and whine a bit

Congrats on the drop! But Vitality to Aether conversion is not really required on this build, you can easily get by with a cheap crafted belt, like this.

Affixes on Ygraad are indeed weird and not weighted towards Aether damage (that’s why I chose the most popular prefix from the loot tables).

i had found purpose in storing every dreadlord/tempest/formidable + of attack/readeness/vitality MI year ago, from that moment this situation went much better. Also agressive + some rare affixes is very potent.
Also this port is good location to farm it for aetherial crystals and these belts anyway (for HC especially).

I tried that, but I use Slathsarr medal for the 30% weapon damage to PRM bc 60% weapon damage in total and 6% lifesteal from the helmet gives PRM like 20% lifesteal or even more, depending on how often I get Dread Lords prefix on the MIs, which is crazy good with the high damage you do, and so the flat vitality damage from Harbinger of Souls makes quite a difference when converted completely to aether with the conversion on the scepter and Chains of Ygraad. When I tried a different belt with +1 arcanist skills my PRM damage went down like 5k per cast, so quite a lot, and I did 170 unconverted vitality damage. That’s why I wanted that belt, and am very happy with the one I posted  Got all the items I wanted(made a few changes: medal and different rings too, got a Dread Lords Gollus ring and one Band of the Eternal Haunt. Also bc of the medal I got green PRM which looks very cool

Strictly worse than Shadow Queen’s.

Doesn’t work all the time with PRM casts, unfortunately due to some unfixable bugged mechanic.

Not for PRM I am afraid. Even with 100% weapon damage that works properly extra 25 flat from Harbinger wouldn’t have an impact on PRM’s damage.

That’s a different build already but I am glad you are enjoying it.

Dang, that sucks.

Hm, then I got no idea why my damage goes down that much when I change from Chains to a different belt. But whatever, gonna use that nice one I got anyways

Not really that different imo just bc of a few changes, the core mechanics and concept of the build is still the same. I just always like to change a few things based on personal preference. Yes, mine will probably perform worse to some degree than yours, but that’s totally fine, still a great build

1.2.1.6 Update!

Big changes for our Aether Panetti. Slathzaar Crest is now marginally better or at least at the same level as Shadow Queen but most importantly it allows us to use stronger ring set and after some tests (including testing Eternity relic) I felt like classical Aether combo of Eternal Haunt + Duality works the best. Plus to compensate for nerfs I switched to Reckless power and compensated leech loss with Haunted Steel. So after all those manipulations we have a build that is slightly (very slightly) more expensive, has better single target damage/leech and has similiar aoe damage. It’s also important to notice I changed how we press extra buttons on it.

But most importantly our rocket is indeed green now, so big thematical win for the build.

Find the updated grimtools in the op, here are some videos with build’s current performance:

1.2.1.6 SR 30-31 4:47 run

1.2.1.6 Ravager of Flesh 1:05 kill

1.2.1.6 Crucible “naked” ex 150-170 4:16 run

Good to note though that it just doesn’t apply the damage from the weapon, it does apply all the other flats you collected and life steal and stuff still works all the time. From what I understood of it at least

I actually gave up trying to understand how this stuff works, I just remember that weapon damage on PRM and DEE builds be funky.

now we get full green rocket, should we change the shoulder to, like 4 krieg set?

Not really. Without the green shoulder you can’t hard cap Distortion. Plus some Elemental to Aether conversion is good to have because we still need to convert stuff like Spear or Proliferation fragments. And on top of that Krieg shoulders tank build’s hp.
