Oh, so we’re crafting until we hit an off-chance of getting both +2 and +3 on the same skill… got it, thanks!
yep. be prepared for it to take hours if youre intending to do it even semi-legit like i did.
The cost makes it practically impossible. 10k+ Ancient Hearts for example on average to get one. Even +3 (that still provides additional Guardian) is probably hard to craft.
But I don’t mind fantasy builds personally, made them myself in the past. Asked for more control over Badge Mastery crafting in the past.
correct, doing it purely legit. forcibly shutting the game down in a manner that bypasses the auto save does allow you to refund the materials, though. why i said semi-legit.
i have kind of a weird relationship with gdstash, though. im willing to use it for some things, but not others. fabricating equipment is not one of those things.
it is a design flaw, to be politically correct (the design sucks)
Would be nice if this crafting was smart, for example you only get Oathkeeper skills on it if you’re one.
if were just making design complaints at this point, id like an actual in game mechanics guide. even just being clear on whether and how things stack. i can appreciate “find out yourself” to a degree, but when the game also makes it difficult to get the numbers to do your own research with…
I think that is part of the charm of these kind of games, that you have to go to a forum and search for the guy who knows the secrets of the dark side of the force ![]()
Crate doesn’t do documentation which mechanics guide would be in a way
also they don’t remember how things work themselves sometimes. The order of defense in the official guide Guide – Grim Dawn was incorrect for some time until we pointed it out.
In the meantime I can recommend this guide Malawiglenn’s guide on game mechanics for beginners - Google Docs
and searching on GD Discord
Hey, I’m leveling this (from OG post) right now.
Fortunately, I do it 1) in SC and 2) in a party with a necromancer, so I was able to just run around with my lvl 1 Veil of Shadow, Night’s Chill and Pneumatic burst pretending to contribute something.
Well, now as we are lvl 20-something (my teammate is a first time player, so we take the time) I finally have Blade Spirits and can actually see white mobs dying in a few seconds ![]()
Well, back to the business.

I wonder wouldn’t it be better to get Raven instead of Scholar’s Light and 1 point in Manticore.
Loosing a bit of %ele dmg but getting more OA while at the same green points balance. -
Why no Vire’s Might + Tectonic Shift? A lot of mobility for just 2 points.
-
Why max Ascension + Clarity of Purpose and only 1 point in Divine Mandate at the same time? I think taking off some points from the former to max the latter would be quite good.
