[1.3] The Ice King - Werewolf/Hellhound Pet Hybrid

Thanks, not a big deal you are not completely wrong either lol
You answered very fast and havent had the time to look options up yourself.

Vulnerabelity …Yes its reasonable
Bonechilling Cry with its 6sec CD …No dont think its worth it, could be done

Heavy kiting needed for Ice King
Ice Queen fares much better against celestials

Hi, I am new of the forum, sorry if my question is a noobish one but I don’t understand how to follow your leveling skill and devotion progression because the final result is different from the grimtool at the top of the ice king and queen. When you write leveling Chaos werewolf what do you mean? thanks for your work

In Grim Dawn, when leveling a build, you often cannot play it in a way that resembles the final endgame setup. The Ice King set provides specific modifiers that make a hybrid player-and-pet playstyle possible. However, this playstyle is not feasible while leveling because there is no item support available to enable it in the same way that the Ice King set does once you can equip it at level 94.

Therefore, I recommend leveling as a Chaos-focused Werewolf, as it fits the theme of the build being a werewolf and is a viable way to complete the game while working toward the final version of the build. Alternatively, if your interests change, it can also serve as a foundation for other builds or simply remain a Chaos-focused Werewolf. You can then look for another endgame build guide if you decide to take the character in a different direction.

The leveling section is essentially a blueprint of my progression toward the final build. It outlines a budget, mostly self-found setup that can comfortably farm SR 20/21 and other suitable content while gradually upgrading its gear until the Ice King set pieces are acquired.

Perfect, thanks for the reply and for sharing your build. Atm I found the chest and the blade of the ice king, hope to find the rest and complete the set…

If you happen to find the blueprint you can craft and reroll the items until you got the whole set.

Oh you are so wrong about this! , in fact i have already leveled up as hybrid pet werewolf from level 1, hopefully i have my guide up in a few weeks.

I cannot write a phd-thesis about every simple argument i post. There are nuances in expression wich hint its not completely black & white. The statement stays true in the context of general Grim Dawn gameplay.

And so have I with countless build permutations over a decade. Most of the time if not always its pretty subpar to standard or more streamlined skill-progressions.

Nope not true at all, I can level almost every main attack skill in the game with at least one of the 3 pet classes very smoothly, as long as you match the damage type with the pets default.

nope, there are many benefits to hybrid pet leveling, you don’t have to bother with sundered and evade, you can kite very easily, hardcore is extra safe, for ranged builds it is very comfortable without creatures running in your face.

Do you know what a common consensus is?

You are right and I am wrong, its fine. I will link your guide if it gets up and sing praises that get heard across all seven seas. Thank you for your valueable insight on leveling with hybrid builds and we are awaiting your guide!

Edit: And use the “Hysteria” relic for the super cool crab pet while leveling. Style points 100%

Please don’t do that
just enjoy the game.
