With Ashes of Malmouth we finally got a +1 to All Skills Relic. The only + to All Mastery Skills slot that doesn’t have + All skills bonus is the Belt Slot
I personally would love to see something like this get added in Forgotten Gods.
My 2c is is that it should be similar to Mogdrogen’s Ardor in terms of power so that it doesn’t become BiS on 99% builds meaning it should have 1 resistance to something useful and nothing more.
I d rather see more belts like this https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/7971
Vitality with +1Shaman/Necro/Occultist.(There is zero +1 Necro or +1 Shaman belts with vitality bonuses) Chaos with Occultist/Demo/Inquisitor. etc
Not goint to happen. Fun fact for those who didn’t play during early access, Friizicks Utility Pack had +1 all skills and that got removed, and why? Because EVERYONE used it as their belt because it was just that good.
So no, dont expect a belt to ever do all skills again
But what about Ardor? They got it right with Ardor, it’s not too appealing and therefore doesn’t take up the relic slot of every other build you come across
Well, that and we didn’t then have alternatives such as the current +Class belts. So one could argue that a general-case +All belt could reasonably be added.
Having said that, such an addition would remove any viability of MI belts in finished builds, where presently there are some notable edge cases in which they are preferable to +Class belts.
Just the potential of being able to soft cap skills easier is pretty powerful, I too have serious doubts that anyone would ever use any other belt (besides existing +class belts).
I edited my suggestion, how about we give it any resistance? Doesn’t have to be a Page I resistance even
It’s just with the existence of Beronath, Ardor, Aegis, Mythical Tome of Arcane Wastes, Silverbolt, Clairvoyant’s Hat and Ravager’s Dreadgaze I find it odd that belt slot is the only one being left out with + All skills.
I’d do something like
+1 All Skills
Increases Armor Absorption by 12%
+15-20% <Resistance>
+40-60% All Damage
Different enough from Empowered Beronath without being exceptionally generally powerful. Probably would fit as a Mythical-level Epic item.
How about just adding a Mythical Chains of Anguish that has +1 to all skills? The stats would be very strong, but then there’s always that risk the proc happens at the worst time (as an aside - does that proc get its cooldown reduced by CDR things?)
Edit: realised there is already a Mythical Chains of Anguish - maybe something similar then? I.e. a debuff that applies on some trigger?
TBH that already sounds quite powerful. But looking at stuff like stormbringer of malmouth and some other items… it’s actually tame.
But balance is imho a real problem in GD. Especially the degree of “how specifically tailored” items are varies way too much. Imho.
It’s crazy how pinpoint useful some items are for certain aspects while for others there are unbridgeable gaps.
That’s what I talked about years ago regarding all the multiple damage kinds on skills, and how these combinations actually limit the diversity instead of improving it, making balancing so much harder.
That’s why I welcome more appearance of +all skills on items, because it offers something that’s lacking in GD: equipment alternatives. A bit more room to wiggle.
Opportunity cost has to be considered. If you were to equip an item that had the stats I listed verbatim, you’d be not taking a Legendary belt or an -of Attack MI which might offer even more resists and potentially 150-200 more OA while also potentially giving more support to a more specific damage type.
The big highlight/singularity of my suggestion is the armor absorb, which ought to give it its own niche without overwhelming alternatives.
Hey I am on board with your suggestion but would the devs implement it? Ardor type stats was the safest option. If we get something like you suggested then I’m on board with it
I would rather have more well-thought belts with +1 to multiple masteries, like https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/7971 mentioned above. There are huge choice gaps for belt and gloves slots for many masteries.
E.g. shamans have half of their skills do lightning/vitality damage, but have zero legendary lightning/vitality belts. But nightblades, for some reason, have 2 pierce-cold belts with very similar stats and +1 to NB on both.
I’d rather see more belts that focus on certain damage type/gameplay mechanics and gives bonuses to classes/skills that make sense for this type.
Thank you, couldn’t remember the name of that, but yeah every single char had the same belt regardless. It was pointless checking belts that dropped once you had that
@ceno
Indeed, that’s what the second half of my comment was aimed at.
But why was it that way? Not because of the mechanic, but the missing scaling options. Back in these days +1 alone was simply huge. No camparison to a bit of resists for example, especially when the player even missed the penalties from elite/ult. Also +skills amount even at the highest levels barely changes and stays at +1 rarely +2.
So Frizzicks simply missed something like an option for “+½ to all skills” to be not overpowered at these low levels. A problem that’s not existant anymore as the powerlevel of items scales a lot higher now in endgame outscaling a +1.
So such an option on a belt isn’t as much of a problem anymore, imho.
