10 Years Ago Today

Well, not yet. The 3 other projects are Farthest Frontier, their town building game which fully released back in October, the RTS game and a horror survival game. Pre-production work on GD2 will be starting some time this year, but it’ll be a long while before we hear anything about it.

Long thread on this, but Medierra said maybe some Chthonians, but no Aetherials. That was a while back though so may have changed.

As a player from day 1 of early access back in 2013 it’s been an amazing journey Crate and congratulations. Backed even before the KS and watching the game and the company grow has been a real treat. Looking forward to what’s coming even if I do suck at RTS and have never played a horror survival game in my life. Always the first time, right! And while I don’t want you to rush GD2 I hope I can hang on long enough to play that as well. :crossed_fingers:

NEED MOAR GD2

I didn’t start playing until just a couple months before launch, Dec 2015 iirc. I always loved hearing the stories from those who have been around and active since the very beginning.

In game preview Grim Dawn 2010

Incredible! Even though it’s from 2010, I love this image so much. This graphic, this atmosphere, this fog—it’s been beautiful since the beginning of time.

Now, what place is this? I don’t remember this place!

It was pretty much an early build from Crate. I can’t remember the exact location though, maybe Arthur can elaborate on this.

There was another picture from 2009 too, where the character was standing on an edge cliff overlooking the area. I was hoping back then TQ would of received another expansion after immortal, but Iron Lore shut down, and it was silenced for few years up until 2009 when i stumbled upon Grim Dawn.

Congratulation to 10 years of one of my favorite ARPG games!

I backed the original kickstarter campaign and was pleasantly surprised when it launched. Having it on GOG, many kudos for releasing it there as well as on steam.

Hopefully all games you develop will come with the offline/single-player-first mentality, as (in my opinion) it is the way to go. …and Grim Dawn executed it perfectly.

You guys at crate entertainment rock!

The success of their games do in fact lies with their offline single-player experience. I’m sure all their games forward will be offline with single-player firstly and maybe with online as optional.

My wish for Grim Dawn 2:

  1. Sequel to Grim Dawn
  2. Obtain all the qualities that made Grim Dawn unique
  3. Offline
  4. No Seasonal Content
  5. DLC Expandable Content

I don’t care about a teddy friend holding my hand in a co-op play endeavors lol

10 years, man… I still remember the Patreon when that started, and playing the alpha. Back then my Pc could barely run the game. I never would have thought I’d be still playing it to this day, trying out new and new builds!

Well, I remember playing Warden over and over again … Some bug hunting… I am glad that I supported this journey.

These were the two vids that sold me on the game. Can’t believe it’s been that long.

Also, I know everybody loves “Lonely Moon” but “Headed Out” is still my favorite track.

Never let this be the last expansion; this game has a history, and history must be remembered, so I hope there will always be new features and updates. Happy anniversary! :brazil:

In 2025 June’s update Zantai told the size of the expansion is 3.55 sq km.
Within 8 months, the size increased by ~ 2 sq km or we can say by ~ 65%, it’s amazing how much content the team creates for us.

I think I’ll never follow a content release again, it’s too hard to control my anxiety, ohhh suffering!!! kkkkkkkkkk

As someone who bought the game through GOG, I feel ripped off… why is there a need for such a divide between Steam players and those on GOG?

Why is crossplay between the two platforms not possible? It’s ridiculous.**

What, no April Fools updates? Nothing about how John Bourbon was really a Kurn Ascendant? Nothing?

Welcome to the forum. :slightly_smiling_face:

Crossplay between Steam and GOG has been possible for a long time; since the Forgotten Gods expansion released back in 2019.

If you’re having problems see if anything here helps.

I think the only appropriate April Fools would have been to announce FoA releasing today, but that wouldv’e been too cruel.

I will be honest. When Grim Dawn first released, I thought, I will buy it but I am not expecting much as it will just be a Titan Quest Clone. Boy was I wrong. Obviously it is a different era but even with TQ adding expansions, it has limited mod support. Something that makes a game fun, especially if it is a difficulty mod (no offense but I think standard difficulty is for wussies )

No game are perfect though as there are still some places where the fps will tank for a few seconds. This may be a limitation in the game engine but I may be wrong. The reroll of gear etc, is something I have been waiting for for ages. I play a lot of ARPG and 95% of them, you cannot properly upgrade/enhance late game gear. Hopefully this system will be different as you get lighting damage on a piercing build etc on gear is a big problem for me. Lets see how this goes once released. I have been taking a break from gaming for health reasons so will be back once the DLC release.

Quick Edit/Update. I tried Grim Dawn on a few GPUs previously. 1050 TI/RX470 and a 1070 TI and all of them had the stutter issue. I bought a second hand RX6600XT in November. Still had the same problem with stutter. I had my Sam (Smart Access Memory) disabled as it is a hit or miss for games. Example, Forza Motorsport hates SAM on my system. Enabled it and I have no stutter. Run between 120FPS-200FPS depends on location. SAM lets you use your whole Vram and guessing the 256mb bandwidth bottleneck without Sam is the limitation in this game.
