What kind of settings and frames could I expect with a 8th gen i5 + 1050ti?
What about 8th gen i7 + 1060?
If I was running skeletons with flame torrent should I just get the 1060? Heard that was an fps killer and may want the extra performance. Before I was forced to stop playing grim dawn I only played conjurer so I wouldn’t know.
Anything past i3 may not be needed but these are laptops so I have to pick one or the other. Just need some performance expectations. These aren’t maxq gpus or whatever they’re called they’re the real ones?
Edit: I absolutely need a laptop. Hotel room desktop takes up too much room, I work overnight shift at fast food resturant so sometimes it get a really slow and can play there. Other reasons too.
I have a 1060 laptop, a friend 1050 ti, both worked quite well as Snazzblaster mentioned. I even got all settings max out too. But be wary frames do drop when things go haywire. Even latest cards suffer the same fate:rolleyes:
With a 1050 ti can I play everything maxed with AA and AF off? Also no vsync tripple buffer or those other useless settings. Those just kill fps. I’ll get atleast 40-50 fps right?
For comparison, I have an i7 processor 2.8 ghz, and I’m constantly above 60 fps unless i’m in cruci. The lowest it ever drops is in the 30’s though (and this is in the later waves of crucible), which isn’t bad compared to many crucible videos I’ve seen. Even the 1080’s have frame drops in cruci, so this is about as good as you can expect.
I do need to have shadows low or off though, those kill my frames for some reason. Every other graphical setting I have on high (except particles because I like not being blinded).
here’s a random short crucible gameplay video of mine you can check out to see if a spec like mine lives up to your expectations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SRBDr_9b3o (I have my fps enabled in the top right so you can check it out)
Clock speeds important for single core games. Guess the i5s pretty good then its 2.3 base and up to 4.0 boost. No clue how to make it run at 4.0 or if thats even a good idea. Will have to ask a pc reddit or something when I buy it.
I don’t think buying a laptop with a GTX1080-M is a good deal. They are very very expensive and have lots of negatives mainly noise and temperatures.
Not sure about smaller cards like a 1050TI-M, I tihnk a Ryzen AMD APU might be better but most likely doesn’t fulfill your requirement of maxed out graphics at 60fps.
If you can, I suggest you to wait. All Nvidia cards are already two years old and the latest generation should be out soonish.
And as for CPU’s AMD should bring out their 7nm line-up beginning of next year as well.
This is quite a cpu heavy game. When comparing equal video cards, the difference between I3 and I5 will be quite significant. Especially if you plan on being server(don’t know if you do). So saying it’s a waste is not quite accurate.
