2H Melee Ritualist Brainstorming

Hi guys,

I was thinking of a 2H melee build with necro as main and shaman as 2nd class but am very unsure about a viable build.

The shaman class has nice 2-hand melee utilities, lots of bleeding and lightning damage. Necros do have lots of vitality, aether and cold damage (and I do like bone harvest a lot).

So possible damage types would be

  • physical + internal trauma
  • vitality + vitality decay
  • cold + frostburn
  • aether
  • lightning + electrocute
  • bleeding

Whats your opinion on these damage types? Do you have any experience with a 2h vitality ritualist? Should i focus on vitality / aether damage?

Also I wonder what skills I should use. As mentioned I do like the bone harvest a lot but it does focus cold damage.

What do you think of the revenant constellation?
are the additional skeletons worth a try?
they do scale with my characters aether and vitality damage bonuses and seem to be indestructible.

In general I´m looking for any tips and advices for making a 2H melee focused ritualist. Please help! :rolleyes:

If you want to go 2h vitality you’re better off going Shaman/Occultist. I don’t know if a 2h melee ritualist is viable. We’d have to look at what’s available in regards to damage conversion, resist reduction, and 2h weapons to evaluate things properly.

I usually just search through the item database on grimtools and identify options which synergize well with class skills to start a build off. What you’re asking for right now is for someone to make the build for you, which probably isn’t going to happen. You should do the research and make the build yourself! :slight_smile:

I wasn´t asking for complete builds but for catchphrases / skill combinations / meta items (and so on) I can make use of. I mean common meta combinations (I asked for specific stuff like the Revenant constellation for example).

But what you are saying is that there is no common used 2-hand ritualist, right? That means I have to do lots of research and testings (which is good to know I guess). :slight_smile:

I found Death´s Reach, a 2-handed axe that does increase devouring swarm (shaman) by 3 and blood boil (necro) by 4 points. It also increases vitality damage a lot. So there may be good synergies between those classes also for melee combat.

Hi, I think that physical option may be ok, probably built around avenger weapon, gladiator belt etc. I had one in grimtools, but I lost the link. But it seemed to be pretty decent.

I love revenant constellation but I usually leave out the last node, because I tend to take it for the first five. I have tried the skeletons and they seemed to be pretty useless in terms of damage, but my experience with them is very limited so maybe someone may correct me.

When I looked into Shaman/Necro as a 2h vitality character I felt that Shaman/Occultist has much better synergies. I’ve only just started looking into 2h builds for these classes though, so it’s quite possible I missed something.

Here’s a 2h vitality melee ritualist I just put together. OA and DA are really hard to get enough of with this class combination, so it’s using 2 MIs.
