First, is there a typical gear setup for this kind of character? Any advice? I’ve been testing four pieces of the Ultos set (Ultos’ Stormseeker, Hood, Cuirass, and Gem) + Divinesteel Shoulderguard (the elemental and bleed resists are handy) + Lifegiver Signet (high vitality res, attack damage converted to health) + Tinker’s Ingenuity (poison and bleed res, and a lowered physique requirement to use…) + Empowered Leg Plates of Valor (high life, pierce and bleed res, but you need a lot of physique) + Eye of the Storm + Badge of Mastery (for +5 to Primal Strike). That leaves gloves, one ring, and boots to fill in with rare items. I can hit max resists between the rares I have and augments/components.
Second, what is typical for sheet dps once you have high-end gear? I’m at roughly 24k dps with auras up while standing in town.
I haven’t played my PS character in forever, but 25k sounds about right. Ultos set+whatever for gear, gloves with 18% AS and everything else to fill out resists really. Gloves you want grasp of unchained might is best for dps, flat phys, 18% AS with a good roll at least, proc that gives 10% AS and +125 OA which we really want as we love to crit with stormcallers/balance huge crit damage. I would choose voidsteel gauntlets as a 2nd option just because of the resists, no other legendaries suit us. Ring could judicator set or just closed fist for the +90-100 OA, not really much for epic/legendaries rings here. If you can get them some greens would be really good. Tempest + of Attack for a ton of OA, incorruptible or some other resist prefix that could maybe allow us to rearrange components/augments in a better fashion. +Attack for OA or +alacrity for AS on the suffix.
Devo setup looks good as does Grim Calc for the most part. You have 10/10 in Modgrogen’s without the Divinesteel bonus, I’d take 2 points out of that if that’s correct, 11 out of overload (don’t see much of a reason to max this), and 1 point out of grasping vines modifier. Max out raging temptest, one point in malestorm mod on tornado, 1 in nullification, rest into master bar on druid with points in conversion if youwant
my druid’s effectiveness skyrocketed when i went ranged. he’s using Raka’Jax crafted legendary crossbow, and picked up Whirlpool devotion from Leviathan and Reckless Tempest from Tempest as major procs, full Primal Strike, supplementing with Skyshards and Flash Freeze.
I have some insane 2h melee legendaries but i needed Maiven’s for shielding it was still pretty tough, RDPS lets me drop Maiven’s out of the build and get a few points back.
Go with at least 4/5 Ultos. You can go 5/5 if you like doing full physical/lightning damage. You can also go aether/lightning (a natural choice for this class) and swap the weapon with a Temporal Archblade (also look much better than the axe;)). If you go with the second option, a Vortex of Souls (2h rifle) on the 2nd weapons slot will help you clear trash mobs very quickly. I think i have seen a good build on this forum that use the last setup…
Vortex of Souls is a great option, glad jaja discovered that and posted about it. It no longer lists it on the tooltip, but it has an effect where it is 100% to pierce through an enemy, when used with primal strike you essentially get two primal strikes on each attack it’s god tier for clearing trash but stormseeker is better for single target dps by a large margin.
Please no tempororal arcblade that is a huge downgrade excluding the 4 or 5 piece ultos set bonus the +arcanist stuff isn’t that valuable, lightning conversion>>>>> aether conversion cause we have a assive % light mod and more reduction, no +3 to stormcallers, and instead of attack speed we get cast speed
Please no tempororal arcblade that is a huge downgrade
You are absolutely right, but on my setup it “only” lose by about 3,5k dps (edit>30k US, 26,5 TA) and something less while the proc is active. Plus I can cast things more quickly (vines, devils and totems)… plus i have one and this is my only build that can use it…
I’ll look into Grasp of Unchained Might for the gloves slot. So I originally had Tempest + Rhowan’s Crown without Spear of the Heavens, and my sheet dps was higher when I did, but I heard that the OA from Dying God and Aeon’s Hourglass might be better. I’ll have to test again.
Yeah, wasn’t sure about Overload. Seems mediocre and I could probably put the points somewhere better.
My dps goes down a lot with Raka’Jax and a little with Vortex of Souls, but I haven’t actually played with the latter (didn’t realize the piercing benefit).
What’s a good benchmark for life at level 85? I’m sitting around 13k at level 80 or so.
15%ish loss on sheet but we have so much more lightning resi reduction that it’s a lot more than 15% in reality, also the proc on stormseeker is better That being said you probably still clear pretty fast and I can’t deny it looks super cool Style points ftw
13k life is fine and dandy imo. I’m of the belief that overload just isn’t very good especially when the trade off is an extra 18 res reduce from devil and more survivability. Vortex is really nice you can ~insta clear screens with the double strike it grants and we can constantly be kiting forward while we clear too making it fast. Also worth noting you can throw a silvercore bolt on it for +20% cthonic damage for boc farming, also has a neato shotgun ability (has very small spread) that does extra to cthonics which is nice for bursting down heroes or a little extra aoe
Also personal pref here, but I’m strongly against taking tsunami over sailors. Gives us 40% to lightning/elec which isn’t much and the proc does negative damage. Sailor gives us some cold/lightning res and more imporantly 15% reduced freeze/slow resist and 5% move speed. Freeze is the deadliest cc and god damn druid feels slow as fucking molasses in terms of movement anything to help is a god send for me Not only does this make the movement speed less tilting for me, but you’re gonna clear faster since tsunami’s damage is quite negligible
Vortex of Souls is amazing! My sheet dps drops by about 6k if I straight up swap it with Ultos’ Stormseeker (I lose the four piece set bonus), yet mobs die significantly faster, and playing ranged is just fun.
Yeah, my thought was for damage here, hoping that at high levels Tsunami would be worthwhile (and even better when you can attach it to whatever you want in the next patch). Maybe it will get buffed a little down the road? Or it’s just meant as a stepping stone that you spec out of later. That freed up point if I go Sailor’s Guide instead doesn’t do much of anything considering the available nodes, but you two aren’t the first I’ve heard say that the freeze duration/slow res alone makes it a solid constellation.
Yeah pretty much this. I’ve never run a cold/lightning caster druid which is the only class that it might do decent damage on even then I dunno lol though I think the trozan wand is pure lightning/cold damage so that would help it a lot if I’m remembering correctly. The one point is w/e, but 5% hp or the regen node on behemoth is decent for one point
