[1.0.6.1] Stormborn warriors: 2h lightning cadence builds

As far as I know there are not so much cadence melee builds on elemental damage (3 builds so far) and there are no builds on lightning cadence. Let’s have a fun and cover the gap.

Gameplay video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=broo-N609r4&feature=youtu.be

The build concept is to focus on cadence with maximum physical to lightning damage convertion and use primal strike as support attack skill.

Rhowan’s crown was dropped in name to boost OA by investing devotion point into Dying God. However the damage level and RR are enough for comfortable game. In particular it was checked in the battle against Valdaran. Gameplay is pretty good and fun with a lot of lightning procs visual effects.

Max damage dealt during the testing was 483K. In fight against Carraxus (heart of the beast for Coven, “Desperate Measures” quest) max damage dealt to the beast was 454K.

Alternative setup without BoM: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/q2mKq45Z

Pros:

  • No MI items in gear setup
  • High skill disruption protection
  • High lightning damage
  • No problems to complete campaign content
  • Totem Wendigo and Feral Hunger - good sources of healing
  • Saves: Menhir’s Will

Cons:

  • Not the highest possible lightning RR - the Crown ia absent in this setup.
  • Badge of Mastery with +5 to skill bonus is required - not an easy to craft it
  • Probably can’t win fight against Avatar, Lokkar and Ravager on Ultimate - didn’t test it

=============

[1.0.6.1] Storm Keeper

2H cadence Warder with Stormreaver focused on electrocute damage

Damage: Lightning
Active skills: Cadence, Aether Corruption, Blitz, Wind Devil, Wendigo Totem, Storm Totem
Passive skills: Stormcaller’s pact, Mogdrogen’s pact, Field Command, Stormcaller aura

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/a2EGlO3Z

Active buffs are Prowess and Fightning spirit

Core concept of the build is the usage of myth. Stormreaver and focusing on electrocute damage. Cadence is used as main attack and Wind Devil with Storm Toteam are used for AoE attack support.

Since the build is focused on electrocute damage Rhowan’s Crown was dropped in order to take Tempest. However RR are enough for comfortable gameplay - tested in fight against Valdaran.

Max damage dealt was 304K with not maxed out constellations procs.

Pros:

  • No MI items in gear setup
  • High skill disruption protection
  • High lightning damage
  • No problems to complete campaign content
  • Totem Wendigo and Feral Hunger - good sources of healing
  • Saves: Menhir’s Will

Cons:

  • Not the highest possible lightning RR - the Crown ia absent in this setup.
  • Badge of Mastery with +5 to skill bonus is required - not an easy to craft it
  • Energy issue - with active use of attack skills you need to use potions to restore it. Royal Jelly Extract can help to resolve this issue.
  • Did not test the build against Avatar, Lokkar and Ravager on Ultimate.

[1.0.6.1] Warrior of elements

2H elemental Cadence build

Damage: Cold, Fire, Lightning and some chaos
Active skills: Cadence, Sacred Strike, Blitz, Ravager’s Deathgaze, Battle cry, Nullification and Mirror of Ereoctes
Passive skills: Oleron’s Rage, Field Command, Iskandra’s Elemental Exchange and Prismatic aura

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/JVllKMXV

  • Screenshot with Fighting Spirit, Deadly Momentum, Wayward Soul and Prowess active

The main concept of the build is usage of elemental Cadence and Blitz as main attack skills.

The best choice of 2H weapon with elemental damage for Battle Mage is epic sword Mythical Conduit. I got higher damage numbers for cadence & blitz compared to Mythical Arcanor blade. The last one is BiS for tactian build on elemental cadence. The voidsteel gauntlets were chosen due to mod giving 55% weapon damage to cadence. The loss in elemental damage (physical to chaos convertion) is inessential. An alternative component for the sword could be Seal of Resonance.

Maximum damage dealt during testing was 210K, however not all procs from constellations were maxed.

Alternative setup without BoM: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/4ZDXQqkZ

Pros

  • No non-legendary or non-epic items in gear setup
  • High skill disruption protection
  • Can complete campaign content except some super bosses
  • Nullification - useful skill in many situations
  • Saves: Mirror of Ereoctes and Menhir’s Will

Cons:

  • Lack of RR. However the issue can be solve by using Cursed Tincture against strong enemies. Build was succesfully tested in fight against Valdaran.
  • Not the highest elemental damage
  • Badge of Mastery with +5 to skill bonus is required - not an easy to craft it
  • Probably can’t win fight against Avatar, Lokkar and Ravager on Ultimate - didn’t test it

Who said “cadence”? @_@

[1.0.6.1] Blade of Winter

2H elemental Cadence build

Damage: Cold and some chaos
Active skills: Cadence, Blade Arc, Blitz, Ravager’s Deathgaze, Battle cry, Ground smash, Nullification and Mirror of Ereoctes
Passive skills: Star Pact, Field Command, Iskandra’s Elemental Exchange, Heart of the Winter King and Chilling weapons

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/4ZDXRQwZ

  • Screenshot with Fighting Spirit, Wayward Soul and Prowess active

The main concept of the build is cold Cadence with Bane of the Winter King.

The best choice of 2H weapon in terms of max cold damage for cadence is Bane of the Winter King. The voidsteel gauntlets were chosen due to mod giving 55% weapon damage to cadence. An alternative component for the sword could be Seal of Night. For more defense focused setup you could invest skill points into Maiven’s sphere of protection.

Maximum damage dealt during testing was 241K.

Alternative setup without BoM: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/q2MJ59bV

Pros:

  • No non-legendary or non-epic items in gear setup
  • High skill disruption protection
  • Can complete campaign content except some super bosses
  • Nullification - useful skill in many situations
  • Saves: Mirror of Ereoctes and Menhir’s Will

Cons:

  • Lack of RR. Cursed Tincture can help against strong enemies
  • Low HP and physical resistence
  • Not the highest possible cold damage
  • Badge of Mastery with +5 to skill bonus is required - not an easy to craft it
  • Probably can’t win fight against Avatar, Lokkar and Ravager on Ultimate - didn’t test it

Nice build

Any reason for not going with Shaman? https://www.grimtools.com/calc/r2B6Ggr2

Just updated the second post - build on lightning Cadence with Shaman with higher critical damage (pretty solid damage, poor Carraxus). The build is in active testing and could be not optimized yet.

Wouldn’t non-mythical Stormreaver be twice as good? I mean, you get additional skill and a little bit more base damage. Just asking, you might’ve focused on something else in your builds that I didn’t see.

Well, I would like at first to try to convert as much as possible physical damage into lightning for Cadence and in this case Ultos’ Stormseeker is a good choice. Thinking about changing the component on weapon for additional 10% conversion, but low OA is an issue.

P.S Need to check if I tried it with Stormreaver. It is sad, that mythical Stormreaver doesn’t have attack skill and grants lower flat lightning damage compared to legendary version.

The non-myth does not have Attack speed, right?

Who said “cadence”? @_@

Yes, you are right. Only myth. version has attack speed bonus.

No but has way more damage. You can check here. I think the skill there is super sexy as for a 2.5 sec recharge.

I used my Warder build on Cadence with Discord to get damage statistic for Stormreaver & mythical Stormreaver.

  1. Storm Tap damage

  1. Cadence & PS with Stormreaver

  1. Cadence & PS with mythical Stormreaver

P.S: Does anyone know if the lack of flat lightning damage from mythical Stormreaver is a bug or not?

im waiting for the video gameplay  otherwise nie build , i always wondered if cadence with discord can work with fire or lightning or cold i think ur build is like a yes

The answer is yes.

Battlemage builds on lightning Cadence (and Discord converting 100% of physical to elemental) were able to reach 200k critical damage against enemies.

Battlemage builds on cold Cadence (will post it later) were able to deal 211K damage.

Warder build (from second post) reached max damage in 454K when struck the Carraxus to get his heart.

P.S: I don’t have experience with making the video, but will try to find the way to get it.

The lack of damage in mythical version of Stormreaver is probably not a bug. I mean, it was once mentioned, or even few times, in some threads and Crate didn’t change it even then. I think Zantai even answered something about the mythical version too, but I can’t confirm that.

Well, as far as I was able to find there were changes for Mythical Stormreaver in patch 1.0.3.0:

Legendary - Mythical Stormreaver: reduced base Electrocute damage, increased base Lightning damage, reduced Cooldown Reduction modifier for Storm Totem to -2s

I can understand the absence of attack skill and reduction base electrocute damage in the name of balance. But it is weird and confusing to see that base lightning damage from mythical version is less than base lightning damage from legendary version.

Well, finally my Warder build completed AoM campaign on Ultimate - this is the second build that “closed” all main content.

P.S: I updated second post in the guide for Warder. Gameplay video could be added in near future.

Updated the guide - added battle mage build based on elemental cadence & blitz.
