The Crab of War - Pet Conjurer

Foreword:

My builds are getting sillier by the day…

But, I wanted to combine Ishtak and Oleron somehow and see how it would perform in a pet build.

It is hardcore viable, can farm crucible, kill celestials etc…

The reserved thingy goes here.

You are like a budget Sigatrev, damn.

Just kidding, man, I don’t know much about pet meta, but your builds always looks strong and creative. That Conjurer got 62% Physical Resist, 3050 DA, 17,6k HP on top of 20% damage absorption, hot damn, probably unkillable, given that your pets take all the aggro most of the time.

I thought you were gonna use the Crab Spirit considering the name of the build :open_mouth: https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/8213

Ty for the compliments

and yes, that thing is hard to kill (⌐■_■)

That is too crabby for me :frowning:

One question, why Silk Swath in pants? To overcap Pierce or just something you haven’t noticed?

Was kind of a placeholder. I was going to wait till Moggy to see if I will need an extra SpellScorched. Probably will, especially when FG rolls out given the implications of alot of fire/elemental dmg coming our way. But, it is mostly a free slot atm. You can put whatever you want there.

But yeah, going to update it with SS. plating for now. Even if the extra Ele. res isn’t needed, it will free up chest and pant augment slots for more Aether/Chaos res, so that is still a good thing. More tankiness means more Aleksy’s meteors to the face :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess armor absorb is not an issue on a pet build? Also, is Wendigo Totem ever used there?

I suppose you could but you hardly need it. I just remade a conjurer into this build and the pets facetanked kravall with ease, whirlpools and blizzards barely scratched them. They also tanked gargabol, although this build is definitely not as fast as the elemental version we all know and love.

I personally don’t really go for Armor in specific. Kind of like a “useful to have but not really that important” deal for me. AA plate can be used, however.

As for Totem, I tried it once, didn’t really like it due to the small radius of it. It is fine on non pet builds, but with pets trying to keep them within the radius is kind of tricky, to put it lightly (atleast for me). So I don’t go for them. Besides, the only thing in the entire game that kills pets is Ravager. So, the skill points are probably better spent elsewhere.

As for the player, if you need the healing from the totem, I find that in such situations staying within a small radius is not exactly an option. And since it doesn’t really do much if you have to kite, yeah…

Yup, this wasn’t built with speed in mind. Btw, if we are talking about the elemental version as in, the Dodo, it is pretty much the same thing with 100 less DA and 4 less Phy.res and with Tree of Life + Rhowan’s Crown instead of Crab + Oleron.

Mogdrogen wins out for speed interms of non-chaos pet conjurers though.

I agree that armor isn’t too important on pet builds. The only physical damage that is really a problem is from things like Reaper and Ravager which deal way more than you can reasonably prevent with armor.

Wendigo Totem can be useful conditionally, but for the most of the time it’s not, particularly on high-end pet builds.

It’s pretty much useless for the main campaign where you move around quickly, although on weaker pet builds it can still be useful against bosses or nemeses.

It’s not sufficient to keep pets alive against Ravager, and adds some risk to use. It’s pretty nice for Mogdrogen, but you can only fight him once anyway.

It can be useful in the Crucible on non-familiar builds as they have slower clear speeds so pets take more damage, and the healing can be important since there is a huge penalty if they die (losing buffs).

And…

was right about another SS plating for Moggy. Helps take his projectile shotguns to the face :stuck_out_tongue:

Been playing this a bit, I wonder is oleron really needed? Can’t you take for example bull and not bother getting 20 purple?

Yeah, bull… doesn’t really work. If it had a bigger AoE or more dmg, perhaps. But I barely noticed the extra dmg when I tried it out in the Dodo.

But you could give it a try if you want. This was the one I had tried at first before deciding to go all the way to Oleron.

Maya, which conjurer build is safer and which build is faster in your opinion?
Talking about off-hand + dagger versions.

Safer: This or the Dodo.
Faster: Moggy Puppies.

It is a mini-guide for a different build with a different devotion setup, but everything else is pretty much the same.

But basically, start on either shaman or occultist. Focus on either Familiar or Briarthorn first. Hellhound, maybe just 1 point, but it is just to serve as a distraction. You also want some points in Curse of Frailty early on for Shepherd’s Crook devotion.

On the topic of Devotions, get Sheperd’s first as it will provide a pretty good boost. Then Assassin’s Mark. After that, I’d suggest working your way towards Ishtak and then to Oleron.

It seems to me if we go for Oleron devotion, we only get physical RR on it, and elemental damage from two Familiars is somehow lost.

When we have Assasin’s Blade bound to Briarthorns and Elemental Crown bound to Familiars, it feels more balanced as each damage has it’s own RR.

On the other hand, path to Oleron is superior in terms of DA and resists.

What do you think?
