9.1a Builders idling

I have 65 laborers and 25 builders for a town of 614 people, for some strange reason my builders just stand around 99% of the time, I have to place and replace structures over 40 times and verify that a builder is working on it otherwise it will just sit for years without ever being completed. My homes are now being deprecated because of a lack of entertainment, they refuse to build new farms so many are starving and they don’t pick up the dead anymore to bury them. Kind of a game breaking bug for me and it destroys my appetite to continue into the late-game, I otherwise really like farthest frontiers approach to city building/survival.

Welcome to the forum. :slightly_smiling_face:

Are your builders busy doing other jobs? If you have them doing a lot of other things then maintenance work doesn’t get one.

Builders don’t build farms, labourers clear any stuff like trees, stones, etc, from the crop field area and then your farmers do the rest before the field is ready for planting. If you don’t have enough farmers then again that work won’t get done.

Try verifying the game files and make sure all your drivers are up to date.

hello,

I have another issue with exact this topic: I build an entire new town besides my existing town; now I have the problem that half of it isnt getting build, because the labourers arent willing to clear the fields from trees. Instead they are transporting shit like 1 meat…Then I sent a labourercamp to clear everything - that worked; but not for trees I set an prioritize mark, which are standing there for decades now.
I think it’s a bug an I will never set a prioritize mark on a tree again - yet I cant play this game for no more, because its to buggy (labourers are 99% transporting shit like 1 tree or smth, while the wagons are waiting for their task …)

Wagons will only collect from mines, pits and work camps and they also stock any temporary shelters you may have.

So I did all of that and I found out it’s because the builders don’t get rid of the thickets on my build plots the laborers do but even with 65 laborers well above the low point where the game warns you that you need more, nobody is tending to the build sites. instead my laborers are carrying two berries at a time to a shelter and constantly doing what the market employees should be doing rather than removing thickets from the build plots even if I prioritize them.

This is a real issue because not even work camps deal with thickets as far as I can tell, so there’s no work around, they will endlessly be shelter stocking, while my people are dying in the streets, it’s just nonsense that I have to halt the entire kingdom potentially and make everyone laborers just to get one person enough time to walk over and remove a thicket so I can start building a grain mill to feed my starving citizens. Ive got ample, nearby storage, every home is covered by four market employees, barrels everywhere for long storage, yet 100% of my laborers all of a sudden are preoccupied. They even stop shelter stocking to dig terrain but remove a thicket? oh gods that’s asking too much

Ive also got a wagon driver glitching out and flying all across the map into raider camps but they can’t hit her since she’s up in the clouds, falling down then respawning a couple feet away in the clouds again going in random directions across the map.

a real easy fix they could make for this is to give any citizen the ability to harvest resources manually rather than having to have it assigned to them through their own priority calculations where clearly shelter stocking perpetually stalls the entire kingdom making progress impossible. and/or they could just move all manually prioritized tasks above shelter stocking. if they don’t even want to go that far, maybe they think it’ll ruin their balance, just allow builders to harvest thickets they automatically switch to laborers anyways when the need arises.

Did you try verifying the game files?

I did, nothing changed

I found a solution!
I changed 600 from my 1000 ppl to labourers for quite a time (2month) under ressource losses - but then they cleared everything and got even care for the dead too!
I hope it will balance out now after everyone gets back in the mines and fields etc

yes, I did verify the game files
