Hi,
I have a question about how % damage absorption mechanic works.
Suppose I have 80% fire resistance, and 20% damage absorption on possession. I understand that, if I get hit by x fire damage, 80% of it is reduced by fire resistance, so only 0,2x gets through.
Now, if I toggle up my Possession, it will take 20% of… indeed, 20% of what exactly?
Will it take 20% x, meaning the whole remaining part and leave me with complete damage reduction (ideal scenario, though I very much doubt that would be the case indeed), or will it take 20% of that 0,2x that went through the fire resistance?
Or maybe it would even go completely other way around, reducing x by 20%, for resists to remove 80% of this 0,8x?

Works multiplicatively.
100 damage get reduced to 20 by resistance.
Those get reduced to 15 by possession.
Assuming 80% fire res and 20% absorption.
Exactly what klaspertanze wrote. Thats why % damage absorbtion is good vs big nasty hits and flat absorbtion works well vs alot of smaller hits.
Felt if would be the case.
Thank you.
100 dmg get reduced to 20 by resistance.
Those 20 get 20% reduced by Possession.
20% of 20 is 4, so you will take 16 dmg, not 15.
Or I am mistaken?

You are correct, it should be 16. Unless that is mathematics in Cairn works differently.
Still, thank you for pointing that out.
