A quick question about the future RTS

After much back and forth, we’ve decided to set the RTS in Cairn. It’s pre-grim-dawn though, so no aetherials, although there may be some cthonic elements.

We wanted to give it more of an historical civilization feel but with fantasy elements, since I think straight history is kind of limiting in terms of what you can come up with for interesting units and abilities.

So in terms of setting it will be a bit more Age of Empires but with some magic and fantasy units, alongside more traditional army units. In terms of gameplay feel, it will be a bit more toward SC2.

Got a little bit more info from the dev stream of the 29th August looking at the upcoming v1.2 patch and announcing the 3rd expanison for Grim Dawn.

With the 3rd expansion we’ll be meeting the Kurn and learning about their background/history which features in the upcoming RTS game.

RTS will feature the Kurn, Eurlan and Arkovia.

Mammoths might feature prominently in the RTS.

I wouldn’t and would worry about RTS quite a bit. They are a tricky genre to pin down properly. But i feel like we have been gettin a steady stream of RTS trough the years that all fell flat on their face, since all of them seemed to focus a lot on the competitive multiplayer side quite a lot and left the more numerous casual scene barely any content when it came to map making and campaign.
