About fevered rage retaliation

I really like bloody pox skill, and many people said that fevered rage is best used on retaliation build, but many retaliation build I found never used that
Does anyone have a good retaliation build with fevered rage?

something like this.

This is much closer to what you would want to do, but I’m sure there’s plenty of things that I’ve done wrong here (like use an epic weapon).

Few months ago, there’s a reflection build from Chinese community that make use of fevered rage posted here. Just remember, sry but I but don’t have link. It’s crazy build and as far as I remember there’re warlock and witchblade available.

Retaliation is fine. I think add more reflection would be better for those angry bosses.

Thank you so much all, I’ll try that
@InkOsk132 Thanks for your information, I’ll try to search it

I messed a bit with grimtools and here’s what I ended with : http://www.grimtools.com/calc/q2MrWzVm
OA and caster mobs are going to be a problem, but I’m pretty sure the build can be improved in many ways.
Ret itemization is garbage though.

kidpid has the right idea. The flaw with most retaliation builds is that they go too gung-ho on retaliation specifically, which leads them to be unbalanced in that they absolutely melt melee mobs but take 20 minutes (no exaggeration) to kill ranged bosses. What you’ll be looking for is a good balance of retaliation and procs (meaning chance on block/chance on getting hit skills). The procs, or just any other damage skill you invest in, will be helpful in dealing with ranged mobs while retaliation takes care of the rest. Counterstrike is super handy for this reason as it’s a proc that can go off from ranged attacks, and it also boosts retaliation.

You’ll also want to look for anything that reduces enemy OA (like Wasting), because it will essentially be 25% more effective since you’re boosting their OA by that percentage with Fevered Rage.

There are actually several other options for a decent Fevered Rage retaliation build (at least, theoretically…)

Conjurer - Shaman tree has a few skills that boost retaliation, and Wendigo Totem is a fantastic heal for you since you’ll just be sitting there tanking anyway. You can even use Briarthorn as a second retaliation tank if you want, and Devouring Swarm can reduce Bleeding/Vitality resistance enabling you to invest in Bloody Pox as the main damage skill for ranged mobs, and it would synergize with Rend from Huntress constellation which reduces OA. You’ll be a bit less tanky and gearing is a bit worse, but it should be doable.

Pyromancer - Vindictive Flame/Ulzuin’s Wrath is a decent proc skill and Temper gives bonuses to retaliation. BWC reduces OA + damage and with Agonizing Flames can be used to reduce all resists, which is helpful since your retaliation will be mainly pierce/acid damages in addition to physical/fire/lightning. You can also just throw Thermite Mines down next to you to further melt mobs attacking you, and Blast Shield is a fantastic circuit breaker. Downsides are that you’ll need to go out of your way for retaliation support, gear support is not super great, and you’re less tanky than a Soldier.

Witch Hunter - Theoretically, since your retaliation will basically be all Acid and Pierce, VoS/Night’s Chill should really make your retaliation damage go through the roof, and Wasting + VoS + Rend if you go for it would reduce enemy OA by around 400, which would greatly offset the bonuses Fevered Rage would give them. It would definitely be the least tanky and have the shittiest gear support, but you could get some dodge bonuses to mitigate some of the incoming damage and might be able to make it work =P

Thank you so much for your detailed explanation
If I look at bloody pox skill until wasting, it has only bleeding and vitality damage, so maybe shaman or soldier as second class will be best?

I’ve never tried fevered rage with pyromancer and witch hunter before, maybe I’ll try it, thanks for your idea

It’s good for both the retaliation part (enemies hit you more frequently) but also for the Reflect part, where enemies hit not only faster but harder. This allowed me to get a top retaliation hit of 455K. just don’t get your DA too high.

To kidpid’s calc i would and vulnerability, as it is very likely you will have lightintning retaliation too and some vitality from dreadarmor. Also Assassin’s mark bound to bloody pox will help your pierce and phys retaliation. This is how I got the obscene number above.

Thanks superfluff for your explanation
For gearing, how much DA and OA I must have for defeating nemesis?
