Absurdly low FPS

System Specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3d
Radeon RX 9070 XT
64 GB DDR5-6000 RAM
Samsung 9100 2TB Gen 5 SSD

When I start the game, there is severe input lag, frame rates climb as high as 4 fps - yes, 4 (four).

I’ve reset all settings in AMD Adrenaline. All drivers are up to date. Does not happen in any other game - (I’m getting 288+ in World of Warcraft, 160 in Star Citizen.

To be honest I don’t really understand any of this tech but if it helps I have;
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7GHz 8 Core CPU - 5.2GHz Turbo
Motherboard:
MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk Wifi ATX Motherboard
Graphics Card:
AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB GPU
Memory:
32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6000MHz CL30 (2x16GB)
Primary SSD Drive:
4TB Samsung 990 Pro M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD (7450MB/R, 6900MB/W)
CPU Cooling:
Be Quiet! Pure Loop 2 240mm Liquid CPU Cooler
PSU:
Corsair RM1000e V2 1000W 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular ATX 3.1 PSU

When I open FF with a 3000 pop village the AMD ‘app’ reports;
Frame rate between about 110-170 there is also something called 99th% FPS which fluctuates between 9 & about 64.
Game looks fine to me but the figures are not something I understand. HTHs.

Any chance you have your frame rate on Unlimited? That has caused problems for people in the past

This. Check this.

Additionally – you need to check that the game is running on the RX9070, and not trying to use the integrated GPU. Windows Settings → System → Display → Graphics → add FarthestFrontier.exe → force High Performance. That seems like a potential culprit to me.

A few test you can run:

  • windowed mode (game settings, windowed not fullscreen)
  • frame lag starts whent he game starts, or also in the menus?
  • change the max refresh rate (game settings)

the game is pretty light for your specs, so this doesn’t look like a hardware limitation. more likely a compatibility or configuration issue
