It would be nice to have a measuring tool to give you the straight line distance between two points. This would be so helpful to make sure you have the space you need. For example, when placing the town center at the beginning I want to know it’s a certain distance from the most fertile land so there’s room to build what I need to, or to make sure I accurately place roads according to my town plan, or to measure an area for crop fields so I can surround it with fencing and reserve it for later use… there’s lots of uses.
I’m thinking of a simple tool where you click on a spot and as you drag, it draws a line and tells you the how many boxes long it is. You have to go in one of the 8 usual directions. The line would remain visible until specifically removed. It’s kind of like doing a straight road but nothing gets built, and unlike building a road there’s no maximum length you can go.
