Advice on a demonslayer

Hey guys,

so I’ve been playing around with a few build ideas and have made a few in game and I came up with one I like but I think it needs more tweaking;

http://www.grimtools.com/calc/Q2z4EAZA

This is a thematic build idea I had. It is a good survivable build but the kill speed is quite low and the mana usage is rather intense. If you were going to make a build like this how would you increase the kill speed?

Also with the light of empyrion proc is the damage this does only influenced by the level of the skill or if I were running more fire based characters would the damage of the proc be increased?

Thanks to everyone who has been so patient with your explanations. I sometimes have trouble grasping concepts because this game is complex and I have a few neurological issues.

I’d tell you my case.

PB is now best in spellbreaker IMO.
I’ve tried on Witch Hunter as well. It’s seems fine to synergy Frenetic Throw(Convert most pierce into vitality) with Chaos and Vitality bonus + Elemental convert to Chaos from Blood Orb of Ch’thon.

It’s seems like I use every damage from the skill efficiently. But It’s still have lower damage than spellbreaker and energy sustain problem.

Talk about the survivability. Life gain from the PB itself is high vs mobs, but so low vs bosses. Lack of resistance reduction may be the factor of lower damage. My subject tests were Fabius, Valdaran and Madqueen. The build seems to underpowered to me, but fun.

  • Energy regen : Problems is Constellation help energy regen is Tree of Life and Harvestman’s Scythe(Passive) which is too far and won’t help chaos and vitality other than Dying God. But it’ll miss the key chaos constellation route from Eldritch Fire in Solael’s Witchblade (-20% chaos resistance).
  • So If it’s take too long to kill things and I don’t have enough tanky as a trade off. It’s bad option.

Spellbreaker has more synergy because it can use conversion from chaos to aether, cold buff and better cast speed. A lot of CC and resistance reduction from the mastery. has -Energy cost and passive to increase spirit and energy regen.

Lets Talk about your case. IMO Blademaster isn’t good at frenetic throw phantasmal blade. Only benefit you can reach is high pierce and bleeding damage. Frenetic throw convert pierce to vitality which Blademaster don’t have any benefit in. Even worse for bladmaster to have really low max energy and energy regen.

Frenetic Throw is rather bad after the long time ago nerf. You can do 1/4 damage(-75% total damage modified) but use 1/2 energy cost. It’s like you have to pay 2 times energy to get the same amount of damage. I don’t mind if spending more energy to have higher dps, but the fact is there’re other build have better dps than it.

If you really want to play. I can only suggest you to play Pierce+Bleed phantasmal blade. And find other damage source or spamming source to get more dps.

About the demonslayer set. I’d say most of them are garbage with a terrible concept and skills bonus.

I have yet to try spellbreakers and I must admit the synergy with it can be too enticing… but witchhunter can be pretty much viable…

JoV has a nice build guide to in the forums…

here is my current setup

I cant wait to try a spellbreaker one day… cant speak for nerfedmasters

I do find it odd with gear sets how they benefit skills in classes that may not be optimal for survival or for doing enough damage to clear fast enough. Like the demon slayer set being tied to nightblade skills. I’m not saying the nightblade skills are bad and maybe I built the class too defensively but it really does not have a clear speed that is optimal and without the soldier class with all its benefits I don’t think this build could survive ultimate. I guess it is about choice and flexibility though.

It is ultimate viable. Blademaster should play phantasmal blade without Frenetic Throw. You can deal massive pierce, bleeding and vitality damage from the set. It’s like bursting shotgun skill for kill tough mobs, star monster or even boss. It’ll do fine and safe

Plus piercing Blade Trap + Blade Spirit can make very good combo too. It is very easy in narrow fight and door tactic. Easy good combo and safe for newbie entering ultimate. Weak part is surrounding AOE, but you can run and arrange battle formation again.

But if talking about beating tough bosses and nemesis. It’s different scenario from only main campaign(vanila).
Health & Energy sustain, survivability, dps are all matters.
Some enemies have heal or regen. Some can approach you fast and sticky like a cancer.
