Should I focus only on cooldown reduction, or does casting speed have an effect as well?

Cast speed is the key in any caster. CDR isn’t needed for AAR

For good AAR you need 4 things :
1 - tankiness , you want to shoot the ray all the time, not run around .
2 - Energy, energy regen/ %energy cost reduction . You need at least 10 second of continius cast without poition.
3. 200%Cast speed for 5 hit per second.
4. 3k+ OA .

CDR is always a nice thing to have for all Arcanist so if you have all of the above you can invest in CDR. Id say CDR worth way more that whatever %dmg you can find on gear.

I didnt know CS would affect hit per second of aar. Thanks for new info =)
