Alpha Status FAQ

I think it took me like 21 hours to get to hell mode act 1 D3. TL2 took me about 24 hours to complete just new game alone. That was just me on a normal pace, if I took my time to find easter eggs and etc, it would took me more than 30 hours to complete new game mode.

Still, GD is up to a great start with the amount of contents it has atm.

Give this man a medal. All is forgiven.

Hopefully the impatient ones are just a vocal minority.

It sucks that there’s an annoying spawn bug among other things, I hope that when you find out what was causing it you can tell us what it was haha.

8-15 / 6-21 hours for Act 1 alone sounds quite nice indeed
I’d say take the time you need and release the alpha build when you think it’s ready. The final release should be handled likewise.

Likely 6 to 21 days…

yep yep sounds neat
if it goes to 3 acts that would be total of 60 hours, and if expansions add act 4 and 5…well I’ll just give up on real life for a while then

This thread was/is a great idea. I solute you, Snazzblaster. With the latest, before this one, post on the status of the Alpha build, I found a renewed enthusiasm for ARPGs and dropped another 60 hours into TL2. If someone took 21 hours to get through the alpha build, I can assure you, I will spend much, much more time poking around in there. Take as long as you need. You have my support. Like OMGROB, I don’t post often, but I do have notifications set up and am browsing the forums whenever there is an update or new post. Keep them coming.

The only thing about this is that anytime you ask people to give you money for a product that isn’t out yet, you are asking for faith. I have only been waiting a few months, and really don’t mind, but some people have been waiting a couple years. Anytime you ask for peoples money they are going to ask where the product is no matter how many explanations you give. I think that anyone with a key should be able to test the game right now, but I understand there is piracy issues. Either way, I think the people who have been waiting a long time, and gave there money on blind faith, should get something for it and more than just a tease update every 2 weeks.

Furthermore, the dev’s for d3 got a rediculous amount of money on kickstarter, and were sneaky about the beta, only allowing people to play to level 9 I believe. IMO they were obviously holding back and trying to hide the fact that the game was lacking a lot of features, and all though I don’t think that is the case here, I am sure there are plenty of people thinking about the same scenario.

Im sorry but this is pretty damn stupid. Everyone needs to realise that when they pay for a kickstarter they are going to have to sit in patience and wait for release. If that isn’t feasible, next time wait for release and buy the game. Everyone who paid on blind faith will get something…THE GAME ON RELEASE OF ALPHA BETA AND RTM

This thread was going so well before devils advocate had to come in and play the liberal point of view.

The devs of D3 weren’t on Kickstarter? Also, I highly doubt the D3 devs didn’t like the game they were releasing, despite everyone else’s complaints. Just because you and many others didn’t like the game doesn’t mean there was some sort of conspiracy to cover up the flaws that the devs apparently knew existed.

If you ask me, the beta ended where it did because Deckard Cain’s death happens almost immediately after, and including a major twist in the story like that in the beta would have been plain stupid, then again they did release images of Diablo’s feminine form, which spoiled the entire Leah storyline, so make of that what you will.

Well, I’ve been waiting since February 2010, so I’m fine with a few more weeks/months.

Until it comes out I’ll continue playing D3.

The real question is when do I get to play Black Legion on the 360?

Can anyone fill me in on the state of the game please. I’m trying my space quest decoder ring but I’m not sure where we are at. Can’t really tell :frowning:

GD is still in pre alpha, and is been tested by a small number of people, the FAQ explains everything, as for the release, no release date has been given, I suggest you read the FAQ

How many acts will be in full game?

that I no idea, there will be three difficulty levels, but as for the acts, I can’t help there, but the alpha test should be pretty big and a lot of content to explre

Thanks!

I was getting a little tired of waiting, but I understand the situation. Can’t say I am happy (especially about the alpha is imminent statement), but it is reasonably explained and that is just the facts.

I even more understand the situation of bad first impressions for the game and studio.

In conclusion I will just have to wait and control myself.

PS I am even more surprised that people would release builds to the public against the wishes of the devs to cause trouble. I should not be surprised by people’s immorality but stupidly I continue to be.:frowning:

the devs weren’t on kickstarter? i believe the d3 kickstarter rasied 16 million dollars, but I could be wrong on the number. it was linked on the d3 forum a week or two ago showing it.
your reason for the beta ending could be right, but if thats the case maybe they could have given a differnt portion of the game then because it was like a 1 hour beta, more like a demo, and people werent able to really give any suggestions at all to make the game better pre-release. And it doesnt take a consiracy theorist to know that if people got to play more into the game and see how short it was, and the lack of skill customization it would have hurt their sales tremedously

and for the guy who thinks what i said is stupid, you are stupid and heres why. when they ask for kickstarter they give an estimated release, and when they ask for loyalist support there is also an estimated release. more than a year later and still not alpha does not fit into the understandable window for when they game releases or from when it was first opened on kickstarter.

if a car company is coming out with a brand new model, people will reserve it ahead of time and pay a higher price to get it on release. if you tell them summer 2012 but they dont get their car until fall 2013 they would be pissed.

i already said, i dont mind waiting, but people are going to keep asking no matter what kind of explanations you give.

Everyone who backed knew that alpha was planned for 1Q 2013 with beta at least 3 months after that. So I see no reason why someone who did not buy a level that includes alpha access should now get it - or in fact assume that they should have access to any build right now

D3 was not on Kickstarter, no idea what you are talking about here
