Ran it twice and it feels shorter than the other 3 but very fun due to the varied enemy types and mix of Chaos/Aether/Poison.
The vendor is amazing, thank god for that, and so are the new potions and relics.
MIs are cool, I can already see the new builds possibilities, the Gargabol MI ring seems underwhelming.
The Deathstalker Manticore deals a bit too much damage but maybe that’s just my build, I destroyed her the first time and almost ripped the second.
And the final boss feels like an actual bossfight, there’s a rythm to the fight and the damage is just fine and forces me to actually care about the mechanics, and he seemed to have at least two versions (or he never used some skills the first time) so that’s cool too.
I’d say Tree Stump boss is kinda hard, mostly due to the arena’s flame torrents, surely would be nice to reduce them in quantity (literally get rid of 3-4 on the different sides), a bit more gaps is always welcome. Aetherial hydralisk has too much hp’s for my taste, but ok. Trial of Chaos was a true chaos on screen but bearable. Ah, and that new vendor is a cutie!
Then again, we’re talking about the end-game dungeon and it should be hard. Don’t nerf it, don’t buff it, it’s fine as is (IMHO). Thank you, Crate team.
I’m a level 76 death knight. Gear is pretty decent, and I got melted in his second stage, in Epic. I’m pretty sure it was the flame torrent, but am not sure. I’ve got 74% fire resist. His first phase was pretty easy. I think his second stage probably isn’t too hard, but you can’t stand in the flame torrent, which makes sense. It just came so fast that I didn’t react in time. Oh well, next time I’ll get him! (I hope)
You need to overcap your resists there, Gargy (nearly all his abilities) and the flame jets all have all resist reduction. So, yeah, overcap everything by at least 30.
And don’t stand in that fissure/volcano thing he makes; that is the one thing that hurts the most by far.
I also like the dungeon, personally I think where Port Valbury was too long, Ancient Grove is a bit too short. But both are fun in their own way!
For future dungeon design, I’d like to see one where it isn’t so one-sided in theme. If (and please yes) an Eldritch realm dungeon comes, it would be awesome to have each different level have a completely unique theme (and unique dangers in terms of damage types and environment).
But if you follow the hidden path order it would be more like
L1: Dreeg
L2: Solael
L3: Bysmiel
L4: The Eldritch Core / thing that lured the three in
Would like to see what’s behind them.
Something that can be looked at is the relative strength of enemies in this dungeon. There’s the act 5 critters with lots of hitpoints, those are fine, and the modified thorned horrors (those aether grasping vines are surprisingly dangerous) and such. Bunch of act 6 chtonians as well, same strength level. But mixed in are act 1 and 2 stuff like mosquitos, wasps, spiders and rifthounds. Honestly they die in the blink of an eye compared to the other stuff and deal almost no damage.
These could do with the same treatment that the crabs and thorned things got, they’re just too weak compared to the rest of the dungeon.
I wish I could get into the Ancient Grove but in my game and map it is not visible on the Eastern wall in Ugdenbog l like indicated on this site and by others. It is as if it is not part of the map.The eastern wall is just closed where it is suppose to be…??
My game is updated to the latest and I have checked all the videos on the net…there is no entrance on my map like showed on the videos.
Does anyone have any clue why that should be? I am a level 75 Purifier.Any help will be appreciated.
I really enjoyed it. High density, good drop rates for a variety of components, good drop rates for blues and purples, wide variety of enemy types, challenging content and the best vendor in the game (imho).
One negative: That short-changing-psuedo-god gave me a dupe for a reward!
I think this roguelike dungeon is pretty fun. It’s definitely more challenging than the base game ones, though. That isn’t necessarily good or bad, but does make it a less attractive choice in theory if you want to cruise through content for the same rewards. I appreciated that the initial quest gave you a Skeleton Key; I was always annoyed that Anasteria sent you to the roguelikes without supplying them.
