as the title says. Is there any good non-pet(!) Cabalist build for ultimate?
There’s a fairly obvious synergy between Ravenous Earth (sustained vit/poison dmg) and DEE (LMB acid/poison/whatever else dmg), with quite decent gear support.
There’s another fairly obvious synergy between Occultist’s curses (Bloody Pox + Curse of Frailty) and Ravenous Earth.
However, survivability will be quite bad as both Blood of Dreeg and Mark of Torment aren’t particularly failsafe defensive skills. I’d say that even for a poison caster it will be better to hybridize into skeletons (not many skill points for lots of distraction) rather than trying to play a glass cannon with only 2 not very great circuit breaker skills.
Vit Poison hybrid, there are plenty of items with both damage types together
I’ve been theorycrafting a Cabalist melee character who leans on vitality damage and has good sustain. A “rough draft” grimtools is here:

For devotions I’d lean on Rattosh, plus DA boosters / OA boosters / one or more circuit breakers. There’s also still the issue of finding a good default attack replacer, along with lining up “physical to vitality” conversion. Haunted steel is an obvious choice to help with sustain and conversion.
So, a rough draft, I think, but one with promise once itemization gets worked out.
IMO Necro got one of if not the best CC skill in game in ill omen.
Why?
- ill omen is a spreading curse (like bloody pox) means it can effect the entire screen and beyond.
- It inflicts terrify on mobs for the entire duration +2 seconds.
- It also debuff physical damage and movement speed. <- good for bosses etc that cant be effected by terrify.
Yep. But at this moment the biggest problem for any “squishy wizard” kind of builds isn’t CC but meeting a 3-hero pack blitzing/shadowstriking you and slapping you for all your HP, no matter if you’re going very heavily into PHY or not. Ill Omen won’t help much here.
Aside from that - yeah, it’s great and it’s far easier on points than CoF (if you need to save points for something else).
