Here is the thing, I’ve played a lot of GD at the beginning and the had a slump in activity until recently when I bought the AoM expansion (which is awesome btw), and while I finished the game’s campaign I never got to Ultimate difficulty and so now my highest lvl character is lvl69 witchblade.
Which means I don’t have access to lots of final build equipment and so forth, but I do want to try a necro build (just because they are freaking necromancers! ).
So any kind of recommendations for leveling gear independent and maybe class combinations?
I did read some of the builds and most seem to focus around drain essence, which seems interesting as I have never played a caster in GD before…
As I said, any kind of tips and directions are appreciated. so far I looked at the builds for necro + inquisitor or +arcanist.
At the start of the game, skeletons or Bone harvest line (or both)can be really fast.
Drain Essence. I’m doing one right now, lvl 92. It;s great in veteran elite if you have some ok gear(spectral shield MI is a must). Get’s really hard end game in ultimate until you get your hands on a lvl 94 sert that supports it. In my case uroboruuk soon. He is an apostate fro the aether rr. Not sure this class combo can do crucible with drain essence though

well, probably not going to do crucible much I think, as I have rather limited spare time. But I do want to make t through the campaign on ultimate at least once
currently looking at TzTz’s builds… maybe a pet summoner isn’t too bad for the first time playing which would probably mean going in some direction like the night king build.
I guess i will start tonight (if time permits) and take it from there…
I am currently building a cold reaper caster build and am in the process of leveling her… If you want some leveling advice for necro you can go for full vitality damage while leveling, take bone harvest line and if you go for nightblade you can pick up phantasmal blades with transmute which is a spammable vitality damage cone ability. Pick up a quick 5 points into bat for the proc on a .6s cooldown that also does vitality damage and gives a ton of healing… it’s a pretty nice leveling combo. After that, siphon souls and ravenous earth both also do vitality damage so there is a lot of synergy while leveling. Spectral wrath also gives quick vitality resistance reduction. Also, I have found it very easy to find vitality damage weapons early on which helps.
The key is RR, debuffs, and life steal. I’m running a Vit DE Cabalist in Ultimate that is having no issues because I’ve got Spectral Binding, Vulnerablity, and Will of Rattosh all destroying resistances. With Twin Fangs, Sigil, Wendigo’s Mark, Bard’s Harp, Wayward Soul, Wasting, Decomposition, and Mark of Torment he can facetank with the best of them.
Not sure how that would work with Apostate though.
Ravenous Earth is one of the most painless skills to level with and doesn’t require many items.
Some of its good items are MIs with a fixed skill modifier so you can get those very easily too.
Put a low CD devotion skill like Twin Fangs or Guardian’s Gaze on it and you’re in easytown.
A necro occultist combo with pets is pretty easy and can make great use of faction items. Max skeletons, max the flat damage buffs, max Curse of Frailty and you’ll be cruising through content pretty well.
