Armory (for sets) and Alchemist (for components)

I know stash is always in the focus of complains. And honestly even if i understand Crate’s position, and agree with the overall idea they pursue by keeping stash the way it is. I also think that a lot of complains hit the nail head in some things that detract from the experience.

1.- The concept of armor sets simply does not play well with current stash implementation. Is not about stash space alone. The player obviously wants to collect armor sets, since they are really cool and very hard to find. There is even the transmutation system focused only in armor sets. However, you just cannot keep the set pieces you find. More importantly it is not really satisfying to try to collect sets.

I did not use mods or 3rd parties to increase stash storage, or mules to transfer sets. Maybe i should, but most of the time I was ok with the stash room i had. However, I actually ended ignoring the armor sets, cause I could not bother to keep pieces for a set for my build. It just took enough space to increase inventory management one bit too much for me, and I knew that the low chance off getting all pieces was just not worth the time.

Looking back, i think this took a lot of enjoyment from me. I just traded away long term collecting to avoid tedious inventory management.

However, I think that there is a way to solve the issue that would appeal to most players. Why not to have a shared Armory (i.e. wardrobe) just to go trough collected armor sets, where you can see mannequin models with stats and all collected and missing pieces (this would work as a trophy room and also would allow to equip sets without interfering with stash mechanics, you also could limit the number of armor sets per character).

Furthermore, this idea could even be expanded to keep maybe a couple custom armors that you can change into with one click. Where you can see the complete stats, and say ok, i want to bring this armor for this mission, cause this is gonna require some extra anti ether Cthulhu cool shit, instead of my regular gear.

Seriously this feature would bring me tears of joy, and would make collecting armor sets actually rewarding.

2.- Components… component system is a bit messy. There is just too many of them, the game allows you to put them in a shared stash which is cool cause the blueprints are shared anyway, but they take too much space, and i had problems trying to craft items cause i had not the components with me, also you simply do not have room to just have all your components in your character, this in the end creates a lot of boring and tedious management.

I think one of the reasons i stopped playing after a couple of hundred of hours was that the repetitive nature of some tasks was getting more and more in the way. And I think I am one of the few players that is actually ok with the stash size. I would not mind it to be increased, but I’m ok with the way it is, except that is tedious to continually rearrange all the components (and discourages you from try to get armor sets).

I think that this would be easy to solve too, and I have seen similar requests more times than I can count. Why not to have a shared bank for components (via nice friendly NPC Alchemist for example), accessible to all characters and crafting systems?.

I would trade a couple of stash tabs no question for any of these features (though i guess most players would not agree here) cause for me is not about being able to keep more or less items, it is more about being able to enjoy loot.

  • Managing components is boring, so i think keeping and sharing components should be as easy and intuitive as possible, supporting crafting instead of getting in the way.

  • Collecting armor sets should be awesome and should bring me a sense of accomplishment, currently I don’t care, but I want to care. Just don’t punish me for trying to. Why not give me a way to feel rewarded instead?

You should find this thread from Crate interesting regards improving the way of gaining sets. http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70306

Yes, Im aware of transmutation, I think i even mentioned it. It is a cool feature that definitively helps to collect sets.

The point is that this is a mechanic that is aimed to encourage to collect pieces of sets, while the current stash implementation conflicts with the whole idea of doing so.

I like the idea of sets, my suggestion is aimed to make sets cool and rewarding, while making them not collide with everyday stash management. Just having a place to see and keep a number of armor sets, see stats define custom armors, and be able to have a sense of long term achievement while adding to the game instead of removing inventory choices.

  1. If you don’t want to use third party programs for additional space, just make additional characters, give them some money (items to sell or just cheat it, however you want) and you already have a huge stash.

  2. I don’t understand what you mean, I have all components and rare crafting materials in one stash, one page and I still have room for up to 10 of additional components. Also, I have 3 packs of Scrap. Just fuse them together, or use 1. and you’ll have all stash for components.

My apologies, I think i expressed mysef badly.

  1. It is not about space itself. If i had the choice, of having fake characters i use only to keep armor sets by transferring them from character to character, or have an in-game wardrobe where i can see all the pieces i have collected, how the armors look, the armor stats, and define even some custom armors that i can change into. Well, I prefer the second option. I cant really imagine anyone saying they prefer the current system. Maybe I am wrong, but that is the reason of me suggesting the addition.

  2. Yes I use a page for components, honey, cristals, dynamite wendigo souls… and all crafting stuff. It is enough to do so, the problem is not that i dont have room for them. My suggestion is to separate components from the regular stash, and use a place that is shared between characters, accessed from the crafting system, and auto-managed.

Also I think managing components in your personal stash is a mistake, cause there is no decision making involved. You just need to have a full page for that. And you cant use it for anything else cause components use a variable space depending on how many of each kind you can combine.

Is not a problem about space in the stash. I have the space. It just should be in a different place where is automatically combined, and accessed, that allows to show some types only or displayed sorted in different ways. Where it does not interfere with the things you actually care for and need to decide if you keep or not.

As an additional point it is just a bit ridiculous to think in my hero keeping all his valuable stuff and legendary armor with a million pieces of stones, runes and honey.

Again, if I had the choice, i would want to have a separated place for components in order to deal less with managing them. And I also cant think of a player choosing the current system if they have the choice, in any case I would like to have this system, so Im requesting the feature.
