Ascendancy

So I probably will play through at least three Ascendancy characters, probably just one per season. But I’m thinking either a Shadow or a Duelist. Maybe make another Templar and go Guardian. But I think I’d rather go with mobility so probably Shadow …

… although the Pathfinder looks amazing as well. And how can you say no to the Occultist splash art (by being unimpressed with the abilities but shh…).

And an ascended scion could open up some swank combinations. Raider / Assassin, you will always be generating frenzy and power charges… maybe a lazi man’s discharge build, or maybe Assassin / Guardian and then your generating power charges for your team mates at all time. Or an Elementalist Inquisitor, Chieftain Heirophent, there are just so many Choices! Guardian / Raider … hmm. GAAAAAAAAAAH

So they announced the first changes to trading, and well the forum exploded, and not in a good way. The trading will works exactly like those 3d party programs, so you can set your stash tab with a price, and all items you put in it will be priced, or you can do it individually for every item

But to be able to use the new trading mechanic you will need to buy premium stash tabs. You can still use 3d party programs to get the same thing if you dont have any premium stash, but there is a uproar of the community that are not pleased with this

People like to overreact to changes all the time. They also said this is the first wave, so they should at least see all the changes and how they work in real time before judging.

The new trading option is a bad design.

The majority of players asking for a system like that were people who dont want to use Procurement and Acquisition or create a specific topic in Trade section of the forum. That was more the “casual” base who asked for functionalities like that. And that kind of players don’t buy “premium stash tab” right away. If this is to force them to buy those stashes, bad move from GGG, it’s not what they used to do in the past.

Since the beta, there is a lot of new items you want to keep , you need a lot of stashes, especially when you create 4 or 5 characters 85+ per league, as I do. I have around 30 tabs in my stash, and it’s not really enough…or it’s just me ! hehe :D. And the last league, with the increase drop rate of maps and the talismans, that was a mess in my stash.

Personally, I like Acquisition and Procurement, I’m used to them, I remember the old days when you had to do your topic with specific tags and copy/paste your items one by one, that was meh… Third party tools changed our lives in PoE, in a good way but also in a bad way, but that’s not the debate !

This new feature wont change my life, I guess.

I think I’ll skip the next league, as usual, only playing 1/2 leagues since the beta.

I’ll wait and read the GGG forum to laugh a bit and see what will happen with this new system.
And I want to see the feedback about this “class” system, I wasn’t really happy when I saw that the first time. This is far more important imo than the trading thingy.

So, since I wont play PoE and I surely wont go back on D3 Reaper of Fun, please Crate, please, do something for those crashes or introduce me to some nice women ! :stuck_out_tongue:

I am sure that majority of the PoE community where asking for this system for few years now, both hardcore (that used 3rd party software like me), and well i dont know what casuals want. And its normal, because having a in game Acquisition and Procurement is 10 times better than need to install additional software, make forum thread and similar crap. Hopefully next trade update will be a poe trade/xyz like implementation in game. I mean after desync this is the second biggest problem for a lot of people in PoE, so you will often find people suggesting that GGG implements things like acquisition and poe trade in the game.

But the thing is this will bring more people to buy premium stash, because a lot o people get regular tabs, so now they will need to upgrade them (I am one of those,as I have no premium stash as I dont see any benefit from them, but now there is) and I dont want to bother with some third party programs like I did before. So it’s pretty good thing and very well designed, the only negative thing is that this is a basic feature that should be core part of the game for everyone, and you should not pay for it to be able to use it. If they give everyone a free premium stash as the community suggested this will not be that big of problem anymore

Gave PoE a go again. Never realised it previously, but there’s no “oomph” to hitting the monsters in PoE. Feels like popping piñatas all the time.

The incredibly satisfying crunchiness of smashing monsters in GD made it really stand out.

The loading screen taking forever also doesn’t inspire enthusiasm to play more…

That’s actually really funny for me since after playing PoE I tried GD, specifically replicate missile skill and it had absolutely zero oomph to it both in terms of firing the skill and landing. As for loading screens, I play on ssd and loadings are fine. Of course it’s longer than GD but PoE is a bigger game so that’s to be expected. Both of your points are laugtable and if you can’t play the game because of them it really is a waste.

only if you assume the entire game is loaded at once, rather than one area

Never said it was unplayable…

As to ‘laugtable’ well I’m just posting opinions. Also, is PRM your only example? what about melee, other spells, ranged, etc?

My comment is PoE in general feels like hitting piñatas regardless of melee/ranged/spells etc. The way the monsters take hits and die is not reactive to the hits, but ‘just animations’ if that makes sense.

GD with the ragdoll physics, sounds and hit/death effects makes the hits feel ‘meaty.’

Logged into POE to at least see what Ascendancy is all about. Have to run 6 trials, then a super long boring dungeon…three times per character. Die on the last boss? Run the super long boring dungeon all over again. Whelp that didn’t last long.

Free to play game introduces an optional but convenient auction house type trading system with a minor one time fee and cheap assholes rage about it? This is why i hate people.

It goes against GGG’s policy of being against “Pay2Win” tho…

They have all the right to rage and are right in doing so.

a). Nothing is stopping people trading the old way though and not paying a penny.
b). Buying extra stash tabs has always given you an advantage over people with the bog standard 4 when it comes to trading anyway and people suddenly start bleating about it now? I wouldn’t call it pay to win exactly but you have always been paying for convenience & most people are fine with that.
c). Some of the more vocal whiners don’t even trade anyway, same people who moan on & on about map balance whilst never playing past merciless dried lake & complain about every skill they don’t use in their shit special snowflake build being op.

I do feel for the players who live in parts of the world where due to exchange rates a few dollars does equate to a massive amount of money for them but far too many people have the mentality they are entitled to everything for free these days because they can go to the internet and download whatever music, films, tv etc. they want for nothing and then have a tantrum if they have to shell out a paltry amount of money for something.

Yes, and now their advantage is even greater, and with basically every non-casual trader owning premium stash tabs and trade being near obligatory there is a good chance that every other form of trade will die out. I don’t mind GGG making money but by now their little white lie about PoE being “completely free” and not at all pay to win is very close to being an outright not-at-all-white lie.

The trade chat, trade forums, party notice board and 3rd party tools are still all viable methods of trading for free, albeit not so convenient. What’s so difficult to grasp about this?

If you really really don’t want to pay or use any third party tools you can still manually make a forum thread with items and give them price tags so that they are picked up by the indexing sites like poe.trade - the same sites that index & display all the items people are putting in their premium stash tabs.

When every other form of trading has died out then people would have a valid complaint. This hasn’t happened yet nor is there any indication that it will.

There is no indication, yet. But trading via public tabs is easier, faster, more convenient and more secure, so it’s not at all unlikely. Because they are superior in every way the first thing people will do when looking to buy something is making use of them, and only in the unlikely event that they don’t get what they want they will look for it in other places. That puts every seller who doesn’t use public tabs at a severe disadvantage - so if they want to stay in the game they will have to upgrade as well. This in turn makes public tabs even more dominant, and other methods of trade less and less relevant. It could be like a death spiral for everything but public tabs.

Anyway in-game trading via tabs IS a feature and now it is gated behind the money. That is not what GGG used to do. Additional regular tabs is not a new additional feature but trading tabs are. Do you see the difference? Before this change I could say to anyone “PoE doesn’t have any features you can’t have w/o donating” now there is one.

Actions like these is the reason why I hate them with passion.

Мain point isn’t about what’s free, or not. There’s nothing free in this world and shouldn’t be. And yes, anyone deserves a reward for his work.
It’s mostly about what, and how, they are doing. They are just milking their players with no shame, in the most disgusting way.
Same for the recent closed beta.
Just raise up and say it’s an extra content developed for the convenience of players, which is expensive and needs funding. People will support you.
Or better don’t, milk your player base in disgustingly cheap ways and wrap your reasons in hypocrisy.

Won’t touch on how it’s executed. Develop a major, useful system and make it a paid extra tool, for whoever wants to use it. Or fund it through donations and make it free for all. If you lack the resources with no ways to acquire financial support on it, ok, develop it so-so and let it be for free. But no, let’s vomit a half-baked crap and milk a dollar here and there.
In the first place, is this really the trading system people were waiting for years?

Purchasing additional stash tabs for your convenience vs purchasing additional stash tabs for your convenience? No, sorry, i don’t see the difference.
