Attribute points thoughts, Occultist pet gear issue

I have played the game around 1800 hours, and trying alot of build with all classes.
What my experiense is with this is that, i think we need a bit more points to spend.
Like if you use a heavy energy user class and at the same time need big life pool, and some cunning to weapon, you end up not being able to use end game gear because of lack in stats, you can get some via devotion but sometimes it not enough.

I know its about tweaking your points so it fit in the end, but its not always easy to plan forward when making a new character.
I have in my last 3 characters made an experiment on how many i need to complete my build, got them via GD defiler, but its should in my opinion not be the solution when you should could get all in the normal way.

Very often i think caster classes need hp at high level i havent yet reached above 10k on occultist because occultist gear really need vitality on it.
But after testing ill say we need around 25 points, how to implement them I dont know maybe until you reach lvl 25 you get 2 points after that only 1 rest of the levels.
If thats not possible we need to rework some hp in more gear occultist gear is weak in both resist and life at least the pet gear is. I have tryed all kinda pet gear and no matter how I put it together I need alot hp and cant even close to cap resist.

I know there are rings and armor parts you can use instead, but as pet player you need pet gear in all slots or else you build is to weak to do anything on ultimate. Even with all pet gear your pets are weak and die alot.
If you look in build compendium here on forum the newest one you dont see any pet build, and I guess its because its a weak build to play when it lack alot to survival, both to player and pets.
I was fighting the undead nemesis on ultimate the other day, my pet died around 4-5 times in the fight even when i called them back to heal them sometimes. I guess it will even be worse in the expansion when level increase of monsters unless the expansion gear offer better stats.

Thats about what I want hope we see some changes one way or another. I know the attribute points cant change the issue with accultist, there need to be worked on gear aswell but for the other classes 25 points would be great.
I like occultist pet build alot but its not an option in current state to compete with the other classes.

Actually that means that you have bad pet build, sorry

Lol nope, here is only one reason that you don’t see any new pet build - it’s because somebody (like me) are to lazy to post (and translate) their pet builds.

P.S. Another problem in pet build is that most see DaShiv’ builds (which one I highly respected) and this one one Lazy pokemon (which one i’m not), and think that the variety of builds on pets ends here, which of course is not true.

Just like Safarel said, if your Occultist pet build is bad, it’s because you built it wrong. Sorry to be so blunt, but it’s true. I personally have three Occultist pet builds, and they can all finish Gladiator Crucible 150. The “typical pet” Conjurer was also my first character, and was very good with crap self found gear, so I always assumed it was pretty difficult to mess up a pet build.

We will be able to refund attribute points after the expansion, so that will help leveling and endgame. That and you’ll get 15 extra points.

Problems solved! No need for major game changes that upset the balance. Check out the pet builds on the forums. Capping resists with Blood of Dreeg is easier than most classes, increasing HP with Heart of the Wild is fantastic (I assume you’re using Shaman as second mastery for a full pet build).

Hopefully your build gets the polish it needs, because I love pet builds and hate to see someone struggling.

Posting your build and asking for advice is far more productive than asking the developers to change a core-feature of the game just for you.

There are a lot of players who don’t post their builds but are more than willing to offer advice to help make your build more viable. However, if you’re having this much trouble with a simple pet build after 1800 hours (I’m guessing you meant 180 hours?), then there’s probably a bigger issue here.

Actually one of the top three builds at the moment is a pet build:

It is, as you note, very gear-specific however.

I did mean 1800 hours, and I havent any pet build anymore because i think the items for them sucks, a low level pet set with all kinds of different stats on it to the actual caster, its ok stats for the petsm but the low level set also means lower stats in my opinion, mostly all classes have a lvl 75 set but not the pet build set, I have tryed to avoid the set and use all the single empowered items, and epics.
I have also tryed out the pet set, and i have followed step by step some guides here on forum.
But still pets die really fast on ultimate when I follow those guides.
And the 1800 hours dont mean 1800 hours of pet build, I have mostly played other classes wich i find easyer than the pet build.
I like the idea oof stormhound aswell but thats also a low level item wich dont work at high level because of the weak dog its already weak to begin with. It cant be wrong all i say, about pet gear, if you have tryed the relic you know its weak, so i havent used it at high level.
I also find the agro/taunt the pets have to not work that good, when they attack and is supposed to keep them away from the caster they actual mostly dont, when you cast curse on enemys they mostly run to me and hit me instead.
But it might only be me having these issues it seems.
Im open for ideas but have tryed all kind of stuff with the occultist/shaman, but always end up with a weak end game build. Im looking forward to the necromancer and hope for a different pet build.

Thing about pets to me is that it seems having a pet is all or nothing. You must spec your character to strengthen the pets or the pets lose relevance. They become fodder that can do one or two attacks before dying at most. With as much emphasis as there is on maxing resists and all the many stat entries devoting items/devotions to your pet seems counter productive unless you are focused on pets as your offense. My pyromancers hellhound is pretty well skill point invested and he still just does not have the stats to keep up, and I don’t really feel i can afford devotions or items to boost it further. At this point it makes more sense to back all those points out and max everything else. In all cases where i have taken a pet I gave it up toward the end of veteran/beginning of elite because keeping it meant gimping the character in some way.
