I would like ask about any items/sets/components that you guys feel that are underwhelming, lack support to their skill transmuters, need a tuning or is straight up unoptimal to play and create a build around them.
For starters i think Spellscourge set, Allagast set, Diviner set are the sets that need some love in the upcoming patches.
Spellscourge for a set that specializes on Devastation, stands out as the weakest option for a Devastation build… Physical Devastation is a really cool idea and people have been theorycrafting of it for a long time but it severely lacks itemization support and physical caster gear in general.
Set doesnt offer anything than minor buffs to Devastation and boost to Overguard and barely has CDR which is the most important in a long CD skill like Devastation.
Allagast set encourages SBoE converted into Aether but the skill itself is underwhelming and Electrocution via the Lightning Tether modifier is the strongest aspect of the skill so there is no point of converting damage instead of using full Lightning/Electrocute to make the most out of it.
I mostly put a single point into SBoE and max Lightning Tether instead it is way more efficient.
Set also has weak resistances overall.
Diviner set is aiming to be a hybrid pet/RS + Devastation set which is cool but Off Hand converts all fire damage to Cold and hinders damage output of Devastation while set already has elemental to aether conversion so what is the point of converting Fire to Cold that lowers your damage output.
I looked into using the Off Hand alone but doesnt synergize well with anything else, maybe instead of converting elemental damage into Aether it could have converted elemental damage into Cold or Fire damage into Cold for.
The other item that has an aimless item skill transmuter to me is Mythical Stormseer Sapphire. The conversion to AAR is really cool although doesnt synergize with Disintegration and again itemization and stacking cast speed is a problem.
Been theorycrafting it with to make Cold/Lightninig AAR but havent made anything satisfactory yet.
The other conversion to CT is what that makes 0 sense. Why converting Aether damage into Lightning instead of keeping it as Lightning/Aether… One of the few damage types that synergize to some extent and has important constellation support.
Fire + Lightning damage is mostly for Demo and existing items lack any support to a lightning/fire CT caster.
Aetherbolt Pendant has a similar conversion. Imo it would have been more logical and cooler for Aetherbolt Pendant to have the CT skill transmuter in the first place as an item that supports Aether/Lightning and it should have been Aether/Lightning conversion as i said.
Also as i have heard Reign of Ice and Fire is getting a 2 second CD to its proc. It is way too long even with running 2 at the same time and the proc already has a really thin radius and instantly dissolves when hitting a solid obstacle.
If not in an open field or most likely Crucible, the proc is as good as useless.
I would like to hear what you guys have in mind or have anything to add or anything to scratch out.
In Wolfoverclocked’s last Grim Dawn stream he showed new AAR changes in the new patch, Disintegrate vitality damage is getting changed to lightning and electrocute damage, Tainted Power now converts lightning damage to vitality damage. Lightning/Cold AAR Druid should be viable option with Mythical Stormseer Sapphire. For CT conversion, I think it is for elemental CT Druid build that use Wind Devil for debuff, this amulet with Cindertouch will turned CT to mainly lightning ability with some fire damage.
Aetherbolt Pendant is fine as it is, Lightning/Aether AAR is strong even with current patch and going to be much stronger with the new patch.
Don’t think it really needs CT conversion.
Hijacking this thread a bit
I also want to talk about Korba set and tricksters. I don’t know if the set just sucks or I did something terribly wrong, it feels like playing with random items. Pure cold savagery sounds cool as hell in theory but in reality the damage is just trash.
I leveled up with RoS/ABB/SS and it worked well, but didn’t feel like a trickster. So I tried Savagery/SS and looked like a coldbreaker’s retarded cousin. Finally I resorted this build, serving the build’s main purpose which is Savagery+spammable RoS. http://www.grimtools.com/calc/D2p3x9eN
It can barely beat wave 120 Gladiator, took forever to kill Moomoo despite very decent RR and +2200% cold bonus. This is the first time I reach a state that I don’t know what to do to make a set (which I really liked) work.
Halp.
I 100% agree with Reign of Ice and Fire. The thing already had it’s 50% DPS effectively mitigated due to constant dissolving on various obstacles, now, with that much cooldown, it’s as good as dead.
The ring can be used in many builds, not just caster’s builds - auramancers benefit from it immensely. So this actually will kill the item, so people will revert back to using Elemental Balance Set.
Solution? Decrease the cooldown, but not remove it. Fix the dissolving.
For Korba, weapons are just trash. I bet, cold-based savagery is possible with Korba’s helm/chest and Mythical Bane of the Winter King. Try to replace those shitty axes with Mythical Bane of the Winter King and change skills accordingly.
Take a look at my build.
I managed to finish 150 Gladiator with extra spawns without a problem.
For some reason I deal MUCH damage.
I figure it may be to the bugged Seal of Blades with constant RR proccs or maybe just the really strong WPS. https://puu.sh/yngdl/9187d1e65a.jpg
Korba Set is one of the things in the game that need proper balancing. The plus skills and weapons are underwhelming, a lot of the mythics seem to be missing decent procs this is a major drawback imo
Also flat Bleeding damage is literally useless there and should be removed
I don’t really care for that proc since I find it underwhelming outside a few builds but even with zero CD that proc wasn’t broken not sure why they’re adding CD to it, and even more confused why it’s got to be a long one. 0.5-1 sec works well
Diviner-
No comments on Reap Spirit but Diviner is a literal mess of a set atm.
I don’t think they should touch Elemental to Aether conversion on Diviner. Because even if set items aren’t useful for their intended builds they are sometimes very useful to other “unintended” purposes
The problem with that set is the off hand. They should probably not shoehorn the Aether/Cold synergy through that set on us
But a skill mod for 100% Lightning to Cold on TSS and 50% Cold to Aether on TSS might help solve this
Allagast’s Set-
The resistances and other bonuses are fine. It could use an additional proc
I think it’s meant for a certain build type i.e Aether Lightning Multi-Meteors. Imo that set completion skill mod should add more flat damage to Storm Box. That thing’s damage o/p is just pitiful
Spellscourge Set-
The set is awkwardly designed I agree. I can’t think of a way it can be made better. Maybe add a skill mod for 50-70% Aether->Physical on CT
Mythical Storm Sapphire and Aetherbolt
These two are fine the way they are currently, as they supporting specific exotic builds
What are your DoT number crits.? In vanilla bleed cold was not the best combo. You chose to go in between, no leviathan but took amatok and huntress so i’m actually curious.
Me too. @Tysar can you post a screenshot of your damage breakdown, I’m curious how could a hybrid cold/bleeding be that powerful, according to grimtool your savagery probably deals much less damage than mine (which already sucked ass). I hope it’s not because of the stupid seals or else we are all fucked
Well, I theorycrafted Korba’s build, but I don’t have items yet. Imo, Mythical heart of the mountain is 10 times better than Overrated Eye of Beronath: you get flat cold, attack speed and relevant resist plus a pet that can be a meat shield or devotion proccer. I would also choose Nemesis relic for same reasons and mythical Undying Oath.
That Korba set is really bad right now yes, glad someone brought it up.
If you look at Belgothian’s set and compare it to Korba’s, you see how truly lackluster it is.
Belgo’s 4 piece set bonus grants one of the best skills in the game (I mean seriously—look at those bonuses) while Korba gets a lower CD Ring of Steel and some +3s.
The tacked on Bleed damage on Korba’s set is virtually useless since you can’t RR/devotion for both damage types and Bleed needs RR to be effective.
That’s why the Bleed axe is pretty much a waste of a slot for this build, in a slot where you really want something like Crescent Moon.
Tricksters tend to suffer of low OA as well, but this set does not give a single point of OA nor DA.
This set would be a lot more attractive if the Bleed aspect was removed and replaced with defensive stats, OA or more Cold-related bonuses.
Things like a large chunk of leech (so you can use Coldstones instead of Haunted Steel), extra targets/damage on Savagery, RR, AS, armor, etc.
Its good point is that it has a fair amount of Phys. resist but that’s just not attractive enough to get people to use the set.
The 4 set bonus needs a major draw like Belgo’s set.
With korba i would ignore the bleed part totally and just roll cold. 100% cold savagery+ nightblade procs + ss+ a well supported ring of steel doesn’t sound too bad, at least on paper.
Korba’s set is wonderful and I’ll not hear otherwise. Now if you’ll excuse me I have a Trozan x Korba fanfic to finish…
No but seriously, this is a great point:
I like the way the set is designed; it’s a much-needed cold set that makes cold damage viable on a class that normally isn’t ideal for it, and the good stuff is on the armor pieces so you can choose to use the two axes for RoS spamming or use a Bane of the Winter King for massive damage. But it IS lacking in OA, and the defensive stats could be better. It doesn’t need a massive boost, it just needs to be a little more inclusive with its stats like most other sets are.
The weapons of Venomblade set could use a boost to. I see no reason to actually use the weapons of the set over other acid/pierce based legendaries like Mad Queen’s Claw/Misery even the myth Hound’s Bite seem better.
There is not even a attack speed mod on the Fist of the Venomblade…
Though honestly I would prefer it if they transform it into a acid/poison melee Witch Hunter set instead as I find the pierce/acid focus of rather underwhelming as a damage focus.
I’ll jump on this and say I never consider using Mad Queen’s Dildo because it lacks attack speed. It’s always basilisk / rift scourge slicer / venomclaw. More stuff for crate to consider.
So based on how my Trickster fares in Glad 150 with extra waves, there is no reason for me to say that this set is lackluster.
1.0.3.0 increased the set’s flat cold damage overall and added more lightning to cold conversion and some more flat cold damage to Savagery.
However with 1.0.3.0 dropped its power might have gone(is that a correct passive?) down a bit, because enemies dont suffer as much from constant RR as they did before.
Because 1.0.3.0 fixed Seal of Blades I had to make some adjustments to the build like using ABB(which I sorely dislike) and swapping devotionalignments around.
I hope we will have at least buffs like Night’s Veil someday be able to trigger offensive devotions, its just much more convenient and also not a component.
Nevertheless keep in mind that I am playing Hardcore, thus using more defensive devotions. Leviathan has a way to high cost for the sustain and defense which I’d be forced to drop. Amatok however is easy to reach.
