Bannerman

BANNERMAN

Welcome, ye olde friend! How’bout a cup of good old O’Hara’s Irish Wheat? Relax and enjoy your stay in the pub!

Let me tell you a story of an ancient times, when men fought men for glory and honor, when blood spilled by gallons and when people not lived for money but for duty.
A great battle had been conducted upon the hills. The sound of clashing swords was louder than thunderstorm itself, with heads and hands flying all over the goddamn place. Every man brought himself upon the altar of sacrifice to serve their lord. Both sides fought until their last, cold breath touched the bloody ground littered with bones and broken hopes…
Only ine man survived. A bannerman of his dead lord he searched for the symbol he stood for… but all for naught. They took it. They stole it, the damn bastards! And so he went after them. To punish, to return what was stolen from his heart - a shread of his former self.

From the first look this game is another typical pixelated 2D sidescroller. And in it’s core it actually is. The problem with most people, though, is their judgement of the game based only in this factor, while in fact, Bannerman can offer you much more in addition of being a sidecrolling adventure.
I’ll break down this by putting cons and pros side by side then talk a bit more about them.

Pros:

  • GODLY Soundtrack
Was recorded on live intruments, featuring excellent folk songs, enhancing medieval gothic atmosphere of the game

  • Fun and challenging combat
Many combos and attacks to choose from, also offering you a great, almost realistic challenges in your quest to return the stolen banner

  • Amazing atmosphere

  • Rich Story and narrative
Which is not so simple at first…

  • Interesting characters

Cons:

  • Sometimes the game can be a little bit unfair, also you have to walk some way to your demise place. Thankfully, shortcuts exist.

Dark and bloody skies with rough gothic medieval atmosphere. A lone warrior crushing his enemies with music weeping for his death and forcing him to battle again. A game for real men testing their mettle against the impossible. This is Bannerman.

Think of it as a grand mix of Golden Axe, For Honor and Dark Souls, which this game took the best out of all three. Overall, an excellent game.

Also get that fucking OST, it’s pure bliss!
