Heys guys!
Wanna play SC. Have Grim Dawn and the Crucible DLC.
I’m open to any good starter builds, which are not that gear dependent.
What would you recommend?
Thanks!

Poison caster is amazing. Jajaja’s saboteur is still strong if you want to melee. I’ve heard vitality casters are good but never tried them myself.
Thanks for the answers so far!
Played this Build to 35 so far

Have some problems to stay alive atm
This is one of the problems why I never finished the game or get to late game so far. It’s hard to understand all the stats, skills and devotions together. Sad because I think it’s a nice game. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
I recently restarted (deleted all my saves) and have been having great luck with a Storm Totem build. Basically just grab a Groble Sky Effigy (has +1 max storm totem, -3sec cooldown to storm totem, easily avaliable in burrwitch outskirts from the lightning groble boss) and then you are off to the races! With 4 totems and +2 storm totem to start with (the lvl 20 versions and later anyways) you can shred anything short of a nemesis with just junk you find lying about. And sense the totems do the attacking you can run away from dangerous melee enemies too!
Pros:
-Only need 1 easily obtainable MI, all the rest is just gravy. But still (should) scale well into the endgame when you can get a 2nd (main hand) MI for a 5th Storm totem and there is even a legendary storm totem set!
-Very defensive by nature, you can run away while things die! Watch out for reflect though totem damage DOES reflect back at you and they will attack into reflect shields.
-2nd class is very flexible. I like demo for blast shield / flashbang / thermite mine (highest 2nd class resistance shred) but Inquisitor or Occultist both have their own -resistance skills too and some nice defensive abilities. Less sure about Soldier/Arcanist and I’m sure Nightblade is a bad option (very little support there). Jajaja has a version that uses Soldier to inflict massive electrocute dots but that version seems much more gear centric (requires specific legendaries).
Cons:
-Your offhand is fixed, like forever never changing except to get the latest version of the same MI. Same with main hand once you get that AoM MI. There is a two handed mythic legendary axe I suppose but that comes way later.
-Some people find storm totem too passive. Although you really should be using things like wind devil (resistance shred) flashbang (DA shred/fumble) thermite mines (more resistance shred) so I don’t find it boring at all.
Skill tree would look something like this. Storm totem being your main damage, wind devil providing some 2ndary damage (electrocute dot mainly) as well as resistance shred. Thermite mines providing extra resistance shred for harder targets (bosses) and flashbang for crowd control/fumbles/getting crits. Important devotions would be Widow and Rhowan’s Crown, from there you can either go offensive and get Hand of Ultos or defensive and get Tree of Life.
If you’d like a simple build to play that lets you learn as you go, then the pet build in my sig can take you all the way through the main game at a good pace. There are only a handful of battles that are likely to be highly challenging; as an indication of how easy the build is to play, your leveling speed would be mostly influenced by run speed, rather than kill speed. There is also highly detailed leveling and gearing information, along with some technical information about pets and information about key NPCs who can help your first play-through of the game go much better.
It is unusually gear independent, with a lot of enemy debuffs built right into mastery skills. However, there is still a fair amount of useful things for your character to do between directing pets, casting debuffs, and managing the positioning of your summoner to stay safe.
If you have the expansion, then there is a new relic for lower levels that gives you a crab pet. That pet does cold damage, freezing enemies from time to time, and it’s a good early game choice.
Druid (shaman+arcanist) actually works very well, there’s good sinergy. For defenses you have Maiven’s sphere of protection and mirror of eroectes, plus star pact enhances your main damage types (lightning and eloctrocute, plus the cold and frostburn that will often be paired with it in both devotions, equipment and skills in general). Star pact also gives you cdr, which is great since all your skills will have a cooldown. Beyond that, inner focus is one of the best passives you can get: high %OA and high %spirit which will mean you will be able to equip good offhands while still going full physique for health and DA. Trozan sky shard is a nice extra skill you get, on a short cooldown, for extra damage of the same elemental types you’ll be gearing for, unless you prefer to take wendigo totem for extra healing.
You’re still going to need to be careful though, the class is squishy and cannot really facetank; the good thing is you don’t need to, you just drop your stuff and then run around and both totems and wind devils are very good to proc devotions.
Better to start with low maintenance OP builds first as your core character. Because you would want a consistent core toon that can farm gear to feed to your future low levels.
Low Maintenance:
There are several reiterations of these in the builds section, just knock yourself out. If you want High DPS, then I suggest you look into Blademaster, since the former 2 are strong overall but have slow clears. There are other strong OP builds there but require you to maintain buffs, debuffs and need a working brain to reach their potential. Which I don’t really advice for a new player’s first toon.
Phys witchblade is a solid option, maybe you’re gimping yourself through skill and devotion choices? A common mistake is advancing masteries wih little investment on actual skills early. If you post a grimtools of your char we could offer you more advice.
Grim dawn can be confusing at first, and certainly theorycrafting a top performer build needs deep understanding of the mechanics. However you should be able to enjoy the game and beat vanilla story without muh trouble.
I am very new and started leveling Cabalist on Vet. Everything was a lot of fun until I reached AoM content and at that point I really started disliking the class because of how much micro it involves. I think up until that point its a great way to lean about the game but im not sure id say its effective as a beginner build once the content becomes more demanding.
