i agree 100%. You’re not alone in this. At the very least, those one shot attacks must be telegraphed properly, giving enough time to react. Smth like red Ravager’s claw attacks with Sunder
Nah, he is right. I agree with him. Not sure what your comment meant to contribute here tho, aside from trying to exclude part of this community.
I play an inquisitor using the Dagallon set, which is known for not being the tankiest armour set out there but I used skills in added armour pieces and my skill trees to make up for it. My first kill was on ascendant difficulty.
In all honesty I really enjoyed this fight, despite the difficulty, and I don’t mind one shot mechanics where it is required to use concentration and skill to avoid them.
I actually found the safest positionbin most of the fight was directly in front of the boss, basically face tanking him.
The rain of one shots becomes much easier to avoid when you only move very small distances. The highly telegraphed ones when he is on the ground can be easily sidestepped along with his ground slash attack.
Regarding the black on the ground, as long as I stood on the seal I was fine (as in I didn’t notice it doing damage at all when j stood on the seal) but am unsure about how the other classes handle it.
I killed him a second time on ultimate, and he was very much a cake walk there (my dps was too high for him to do anything meaningful), so realistically I feel it’s the time the kill takes in the ascendant mode which adds to the difficulty, as he has more time to paint the arena and you have more time to make a mistake.
Sorry, to continue with my previous post (because I can’t figure out how to edit), I new when he was doing a one shot attack so I felt it was well telegraphed. I wouldn’t mind getting some clarity on which one shot mechanics are not being noticed, as this might help explain a little more of what I did.
Amended my post so it wasn’t so hard for anyone to understand😂
Pet build is the way that is easy so far for me.
We’re happy to hear people out on lower difficulties. Beronath is tuned very differently there. And if it’s overly difficult, we can make adjustments.
But on Ultimate/Ascendant, I personally have very little sympathy. Every single attack on this boss was designed with lengthy telegraphs and you could probably no-hit it with enough practice.
Same, those null totems are very unfun with the number of them he spawns. He should be limited to 1 summon only with a 20 second cooldown. Keeps you moving, but doesn’t result in masses of null totems spamming up the screen.
I’m happy that You’are happy.
Soothsayer practice?
I see perfectly lengthy telegraph for random doombolts spam phase, but I can’t see lengthy telegraphs for doombolt will appear right at you feets in place you just stopped to avoid previous one. That’s essentially my only complaint; I can even overlook the black pools.
Compare Father Kymon arena, where lava fountains have strict pattern Beronat arena, where you need make thousand microsteps to avoid bolts. Character, that facetank Dread and kill him first try, must not die of ramdom.
Beronath, in my opinion is just fine enough in Ultimate. Not too difficult, and not too easy so farming him doesn’t become a boring repetitive task, it keeps you on your toes.
Ascended is how I discovered the FoA content, and honestly, with a decently optimized build, Beronath and the Dread were the only things that slowed me down. Note: I haven’t found any other superboss so far.
One thing to note however, is that sometimes, I got one shot out of nowhere. It is a thing that happened on other places, but sometimes I have experienced a seemingly random explosion and instantly died. It is a pretty rare occurence, but always annoying.
I think the idea is less to do actual damage and more to neutralize the yellow constitution bar. I’m not 100% sure, but that’s how it feels.
This is not intended behavior. The arena should be fully wiped when the player leaves it.
The telegraph is garbage. You know how fun it is to fight her with Inquisitor? Or is the whole class supposed to just not be viable against her due to Seal?
In ascendant mode, it took me just twice attempt to finish it.
I strongly disagree that the telegraph is bad, on the contrary, I find this boss and most of FoA boss’s attack are really really telegraphed and easy to read and react including The Dread.
And my build is a spellbreaker not relying on ATDTH at all, and dps compared to top builds are mediocre ( can clear crucible 170 naked, but takes around 10 min).
To put it simply, big red attack, dodge, ground pool, move away, lightning circles dodge.
Personally I find this far more enjoyable than brain dead face tanking.
Even the Doom Slayer need to dodge and parry, how can mere mortals in Cairn think they can face tank everything.
What ruined my ascendent attempts: I got killed by something I didnt see while running around the arena a few times yesterday in phase 2 - both times I was far away from the boss and I didn’t have a sunder effect on UI. I still can’t tell what killed me because it wasn’t the red sky bolts.
Also melee was miserable because of the black goo that never goes away and covers the whole arena. (FYI build was Ultos Primal Strike Druid, steamrolled everything else)
This is the situation I was in, I’d moved away from the boss to get some breathing space, moved out of the obvious ground effects and then died. Glad it’s not just me.
My char with 11k hp 80% res got deleted in veteran by the doombolt thing in second form (pre-hotfix), beronath was lv60. The telegraph imo is hard to tell as a one-shot attack. It’s hard to explain but I felt that I couldn’t tell when it lands. Maybe aoe is larger than it looks too? ![]()
the fight really isn’t that difficult, even on ascendant. ended up making a video to explain it, maybe it’ll help people.
On my 1st Ultimate attempt with Forgotten (SR set) Blademaster, I braved 1 of those doom bolt procs. BAM, over half health lost plus 56% sundered (the bolt thing was not spiked, no way knowing it had sunder) . My character could beat SR34, grind down Mog and Ravager, yet not even Fabius could one hit for that much. I’d be dead had the boss hit me again during the sunder, and no doubt it made inqui seal useless.
Compared to the damage amounts on Theodin/Korvakk fights, Beronath (or at least his black goo and bolts) are def way more juiced up to the roof of the world. If anything, this reminded me of the Megaera fight, which took me 10+ tries to best and had to get extra evades to have a chance.
Can not say i agree with OP.
Beronath is one of the most fun fights in the game right now and is literally perfect on ascended.
Don’t know why a fight that can be summed up to “Dont stand in red and black stuff” can be better telegraphed. All u need to do is dodge by movement and “dodge-skill” and u are fine. And yes on ultimate and ascended there should be oneshots. Why do u want to turn the best thing that happened to endgame into braindead snoozefest?
You struggle, you learn, you optimize the build you try again. I spent an entire day of playtime to figure out my melee-build, to fight (and finally beat) another Boss FoA Mogdrogen. Best experience I had in years. And this Boss is far far worse in terms of readability and his ability to oneshot.
So no, Beronath is not to much. I would argue that most of the old bosses now feel boring in comparison and need to catch up, since they are simple statchecks.
On lower difficulties fine nerf him if he oneshots. Literally why these exist. On the highest difficulty, no not a chance. Especially when the builds, that are possible now with this expansion, are absolutely bonkers.
75% reduced damage isn’t “neutralize the constitution bar”, it’s “hard DPS check before the whole arena is covered in pools and you do 0 damage”.
even then if you can keep track of when he spits out the orbs, you can control a lot more space, ideally moving the orbs that spawn the pools into areas where pools already are.
