Beronath is too much

I’m ready to take my words about random doombolts back, it it is really this bug.

Berenoth is tuned differently on lower levels - that’s an interesting opinion.

Normal difficulty.
Beserker Evoker.
Spent most the game melting bosses in a few seconds with Winds of Asterkarn.
Phase 1 of Beronath went like the rest.
Phase 2 - one shot every time.
Can’t seem to out run or dodge all the crap on the floor long enough.
Can’t stand still enough to get some damge going before 1 shot.
Damage reduction potions have no effect.
(Beronath level is only a few above mine).

Can’t speak for Veteran, Elite, Ultimate, Ascended mode. But I died to him once in Normal. I was facetanking him, thinking that I was close enough to him so that I wouldn’t get hit by his one-shot fan attack. Nope. One shot. Bye.

Thing that sucked the most? The long walk of shame. My rift was closed. Maybe because it was too close to the horn. Of course, boss reset. Had to do it all over again.

Second time around I dropped my rift right in front of the Skald, then I went in, summoned my relic Nemisis, blew the horn, and ran to the middle of the area. I did Rip and Tear as my opener. Proc’d Dryad and I did a 4 second dps with Feral Claws. Then I did an evade through him and did another 4 second dps burst. Then the unholy chaos bolts dropped like crazy and I ran around like a chicken using Evade, Leap, and Rip and Tear. When Rip and Tear was off cd, I charged at him and killed him in phase 1 with more Feral Claws. Phase 2 I was a bit more aggressive with my hit and run tactics and then whammo kablammo… dead boss*. Yeah. He was more of a challenge in phase 1 vs 2. I was happy there wasn’t a phase 3.

Of course, in the higher difficulties, he will mop the floor with my corpse. But, that is a challenge for another day and with another character. I look forward to it too.

*Well, not entirely true. He goes into sleepy mode. :sleeping_bed:

Note: Of course he killed my Nemesis pet.

Second note: I didn’t see any Unknown Soldier procs, not even in phase 2. I guess I didn’t crit the boss at all?

No need to play the butthurt attitude. If anyone feels that ascendant beronath is too much, just play ultimate, that’s why you got several difficulty settings in the first place, so you can actually make use of them. Some of us really like a challenge, so what does that mean? Exclude us instead? Every game genre has newbies, casuals, chillers, tryhards and black belts, that’s why each game has a wide variety of difficulty settings. Just deal with the fact that some content might be too hard and lower difficulty, no shame in that.
Peace!

nah, you started with this hostile toxic attitude, which was completely out of place. The OP was expressing his take on the boss shared by others like myself. You are the one trying to single him out like his take in invalid. This is not the game owned by you, so each member of the community can provide their own valid experiences and opinions about the game. You can freely disagree with him, but no, you had to to single him out by saying that he is alone in this to invalidate him. This deserves “butthurt” attitude towards you!
“Just deal with the fact that” - who are you tell what any player has to do!? No, I won’t be “just dealing” with that. Many of the changes, including QoL, changes took place because people expressed their opinions and frustriations about certain aspects of the game. So, do not sit there commanding people to just deal with it.
You do not like his take, you can ignore it or show disagreement, not try to single people out.

curious what the standard is/what people “say” when they say Ascendant
Because, are you guys having XY altar bonus active, or just playing plain ascendant with no ascension modifiers?
I got gibbed on Beronath, but i also had an inkling before going in that i probably would have to reset, because i’d been running a full set of altar bonuses with +200 dmg and some  - floofer chomping me did not come as a surprise.
Reset and went up there without Altar bonus and it was instantly much more mandagable/didnt’ get immediately rekt in phase 1

Imagine complaining the game is bad because you cant do all challenges. Sounds like a skill issue to me and the stubborn refusal of actually paying attention to what happens. Cheers!

you seem to have a profound reading comprehension problem. Who said the game was bad? So, sharing feedback about a certain aspect of a game is indicative of it being bad? It is specifically because people care about the game and like it, which is why they bother sharing feedback.
Nice deflection tho from the substance of the message. Your genuine toxic attitude in a single player offline game is showing. Good job!

Beronath is absolutely fine. I don´t get why people think he is OP. Just avoid his attacks and that is it.

Beronath requires some actuall player skill. And that is absolutely fine.

I think it is the “one shot” stuff that pisses ppl off. We never had that in GD before.

There is enough space to avoid it. He is a final boss of a campaign. He should smack hard.

I made an error with retal warder with 26k life on Ascendant and he oneshotted me. Absolutely fine. I never made the error again.

you mean like this ? :scorv:

gg telegraph/demarcation and area hit zones
step 1

step 2

step 3

idk the old campaign bosses you could “out-build” by having insane armor and defensive layers (a core part of ARPGs)

Beronath is not a traditional GD campaign boss

Personally i don’t mind high dmg or even nuke dmg on Ascendant, if 18k hp 0phys res, 2600 armour and semi unreliable DR uptime is not enough; so be it.
But, give me a chance to dodge sht atleast   - there’s just no where to go with the size of Bero’s AoR attacks (besides claw) and how unreliable the hit range is.

Beronath currently has 2 issues as i see, above vid example of completely unreliable hits, only thing decent is claw mark.
And she flies way too much.
As melee i spend so much time running away from 70% of the arena being covering in bolts, to then run around pools, and if/when i get back to Beronath melee range most of the time she just flies back up and starts over…
This is less of an issue as ranged as i can just stop once outside pool range and keep attacking, or if by Empyrion’s grace the bolt shower ends with me being in range of the puppy so i can keep pewpewing for a lil before flying off. As melee i constantly get 0 attacks in which drags it out and just complicates the pool gripe others have. If the puppy didn’t constantly fly off you could atleast get some dmg in after running from bolt shower before arena is 95% pools

Are you on Steam or GoG? The bug that causes the lighting to hit you outside of the markers is supposed to be fixed in 1.3.0.4.

Hot-take but I kind of wish they had made Bero a proper Superboss…

I was excited to fight him and he went down really fast :frowning:

I do think that the Doombolt spam could use a slight nerf though. Or maybe I am just too old and lacking in reflexes…

ah that would explain it then :+1:,
i deliberately haven’t patched up to 0.4+ yet since i didnt’ want bosses nerfed until i’d cleared everything as both casters/melee etc level the various types of 'zerker
*still means people’s ohko gripes were valid for several patches tho

even if my reflexes are slightly better it still feels a bit much with the sheer volume of it  - but yes otherwise Bero feels less “super” if not for the forced disengaging gimmicks causing our attacks to halt.
17sec phase 1 , 2min 5sec p2 with all the running and 90%dr disrupt  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wet6CqcSYRQ
