I have a build concept of running Octavius with focus on elemental to physical conversion using Beronath Reforged. I understand that stacking DoTs from different sources allows higher damage output.
Primary IT damage sources:
A. Forcewave, 100 dmg/sec
B. Cadence with Deadly Momentum, 100 dmg/sec
Secondary source of IT is conversion from elemental DoT effects:
W. Rune Of Hagarrad with Chillsurge (Frostburn DoT), 100 dmg/sec
X. Flame Torrent with (Burn DoT), 200 dmg/sec
Y. Hand of Ultos (Electrocute DoT), 300 dmg/sec
Z. Mythical Reign of Ice and Fire (Fire and Frostburn DoT), 400 dmg/sec
When Beronath Reforged applies:
Are the elemental DoTs considered as one source of damage, when converted by Beronath to IT damage? Is DoT duration just refreshed?
Are they considered as different sources, and IT increases substantially, similar to Deadly Momentum affecting Forcewave’s IT?
In short, to my revised post below:
What happens?
IT Skills and Converted elemental DoTs , from different sources stack: A + B + W + X + Y + Z = 1200 dmg/sec
IT Skills and ONLY Highest converted elemental DoT source stacks: A + B + Z = 600 dmg/sec
That’s exactly why I’m asking this question. It is a very skill point hungry setup, and I’d like to know if it’s even worth using Ignition, or Chillsurge.
The typical Witchblade/Tactician Octavius setup uses Pummeler or a well rolled Mutant Bludgeon. You stack IT with Deadly Momentum from Cadence in the rotation, and Forcewave skill bonuses.
I wanted to use Beronath Reforged with Inquisitor Runes, especially Rune of Hagarrad, for AoE potential with Chillsurge and DA reduction. I don’t really know if the added investment into the Frostburn or Burn DoTs is worth it. For that matter, if even binding Hand of Ultos or Meteor Shower is worth the point investment.
Chillsurge has one of the highest frostburn dots in the game. Howver
It’s easy to be greedy with a set that already works so well…Octavius. Imo if you spread yourself between FW and Runes you will get an Average FW(You give up pummeler too and that matters) with below average runes AND high maintenance mana cost.
My advice, as someone who did a 4 pc Runebinder + obsidian bulwark elemental runes tactician is to choose a path and stick with it. You want physical runes then go all in on that. Just my take
I appreciate all the feedback so far, but I don’t think my main question has been answered.
I’m not spreading the build between Forcewave, Devotion Procs, and Runes just because I want to.
I want to know if investing in multiple sources for DoT conversion even makes sense to increase IT damage.
X, Y, Z, converts to Internal Trauma with Beronath elemental to physical conversion.
Assuming a target is hit by all 5 skills, what happens next?
All DoT sources stack. A + B + X + Y + Z = 800 dmg/sec
or
Only highest converted DoT, stacks to base IT sources A + B + Z = 500 dmg/sec.
X and Y from conversion are lower damage, and considered to be from the same source from Beronath conversion.
Good to get an answer, so I know the build concept is viable.
Next part then is figuring out the best sources for Flat DOT to convert.
So far, Forcewave and Cadence with Deadly Momentum are the base.
Testing so far, seems to make more sense to focus on Hagarrad or Kalastor. Ignition and Chillsurge sounds like a good idea, but it needs too many skill points, and it is very energy intensive to cast both. You also end up getting less Ultimate Ranks.
Next best source looks to be Devotion procs. One setup I’ve managed so far gets Flame Torrent, Meteor Shower, Hand of Ultos, and Blizzard for elemental procs. Second setup only gets Flame Torrent, Hand of Ultos, for procs, but also gets Time Dilation, Cleansing Waters, and 4 point Dying God for OA/DA bonuses.
So I have been playing with the idea of this weapon to also make an internal trauma build. so far I’m having a go with a physical internal trauma dw conjurer utilizing 4 pieces of units set, focusing on primal strike, and wind devil as main sources of it damage. I’ll post the build later, and see if it’s a viable option
