Best Tank Class?

What is the best tank class?

Commando in my humble opinion

My CT Sorcerer.

Whicblade, warder, commando, anything with soldier in it and shield.

I could swear that CT sorcerer is caster

That’s why I added “My”. :^)

warder easily I think. It’s so OP still.

If you are using CT+devastation+iskandra+defensive devo setup it could be anybody’s and he is tanky but still caster

It’s a tank in a way

Yea, and S&B wichblade is a caster in a way, it casts COF :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s Maiven’s “Sphere”, not “Shield”.

My warder is my tankiest build.

May be able to do better with solid gear on other classes. Warder seems the easiest to gear that I’ve tried.

Depending on which direction the Warder goes. I believe physical or retaliation warders tend to be significantly tankier than lightning or bleeding ones.

Any shield build. Warder with a shield is underwhelming at best, so no. Ditto Blademaster. Witchblade is extremely tanky while having an insane damage output, so this is probably the best all round tanky char.

In theory, some kind of elemental Cadence Battlemage could take advantage of 33% damage reduction and 100% shield recovery (requires The Untouchable, since Markovian set is out of the question), but that sounds like it would be severely gimped in the damage department.

In reality, Cadence Commando has reasonable DPS while still being indestructible, no need to try and make the char “more indestructible” while sacrificing damage.

edit: Forgot that the Warder can go for the retaliation setup, which uses a shield. Still no, that build takes 10 min to kill any boss.

This thread could also simply be called best class since being able to succeed, especially in gladiator crucible, requires one to play a tank.

Just an idea for Batlemage: Nights chill amulet to be able to freeze bosses/nemesis with OFF, max OFF and absolute zero for -50% phys rr, go phys dmg cadence…you get the idea

Not quite a tank but extremely tanky build. You can practically finish gladiator with below average or low end dps if you are tanky enough, and that sucks big time.

Not likely, they have 500% crowd control resists usually (except Zantarin who can be confused by Flashbang for some reason, go figure).

Also, if you did a build like that, you would find that you are lacking skill points to max all the good stuff, let alone dump into OFF. The problem with Soldier and Arcanist as support classes is that, while they have a lot of good passives, they are not skill-point efficient like the ones on Demo/Occu.

Soldier + New Shield Class.

Jokes aside tho, I think it’s Warder, y’know, cuz 20k HP with dedicated Tank Devotion and Gear.

Well not really, I have similar spelbreaker build using night chill and only ones I wasn’t able to freeze were Log and Malkadar. All nemesis are freezable. And there is also one sorcerer build here on forums that uses this, he posted some videos so you can check.
Slight lack of skill points yes, but it wouldn’t be so much of an issue cuz you dont have to go deep in arcanist mastery, only 20 pts to grab nullification and AZ. Only thing you need maxed from arcanist is AZ. Nulification, miror are 1 pts investment. OFF and AW you can tune to your liking. You have similar issues with WB when it comes to that.

Here’s the build JoV referenced. I used Night’s Chill to expose bosses to OFF’s debuff and stacks Fire resist reduction from other sources. 12s Mad Queen kill while chain-frozen in the posted video, I got even better times later by mixing in Grenado with High Impact. Basically, anything besides the Act bosses are freezable this way, even Nemeses.

Anything with Soldier + shield or Soldier + shield + focus on health regeneration is incredibly durable.
