Blacksmith Forge Product Idea - Caltrops

After loading my save file this morning poking around at the Blacksmithing Forge, I thought about how cool the ability to produce and deploy caltrops would be. Perhaps by using a simple, small building responsible for fetching iron and then scattering them according to a work area’s radius. They could disappear over an entire seasonal cycle and be consumed by an advancing enemy force walking over them, requiring redeployment. I admittedly don’t know much about the process of creating/adding features to a game such as this but the idea didn’t strike me as one as complicated as some of the commonly suggested features like bridges.

Historically caltrops were used against cavalry, and I’ve seen so few horsemen in this game that I don’t think caltrops are worth it. Perhaps a field of staked pits along raider routes instead? Make it part of the Light Infantry effectiveness, deploy them to an area via flag and after arrival they automatically dig pits? Then again maybe not, unless you get good at predicting where raiders come from.
