[Blademaster] 2 Handed Sword Master

I tested it again. There is no dropping n defense. It has 2100 DA where as in 0.6 it had 1800. BM begs for high damage to kill stuff before being killed and life steal with huge cadence crits. Same for any SS build

lol i noticed that too, shady af.

Superfluff, may you attach a grimcalc to your video??

Build updated 05/04/2017

Changed pierce damage (not enough pierce conversion with two handed swords) to physical damage and it works way better now.
I’ll try to post some videos.

First video against fabius in the second post.

Acid spray doesn’t stack with Break Morale. You’ve changed it in grimcalc but still have notion of acid spray in the build description.
Good style btw.

I’m not using acid spray anymore, the updated version is in pale green color.
OK I’ve edited and deleted old parts of the post to avoid confusion.
Onto this video now.

The trick with 2-h sword is that you cant go physical because of pierce conversion, and you cant go pierce because conversion is too low.

So, you should aim for other damage types - elemental, acid, aether, etc.

Sure, but conversion is always hard with two hand weapon, and blademaster haven’t really much conversion skills.

But physical works fine and it’s not heavily resisted and we get 70% RR with this build.

Not much damage type possible with blademaster. Maybe I’ll try an acid/poison build next time with Nightshade’s reach.

always wanted to make a build like this but seems like 2h maces/axes are just better since crate didn’t give us any decent epic or legendary 2h sword for soldier

And yes, you can use the exact same build with Leviathan (a 2h legendary mace) and you’ll have better DPS and survivability.

There will always be a better weapon or weapon combination than 2h swords.
If you want pierce damage, 1h swords are better,
If you want high base flat damage 2h axes/maces are better,
If you want high attack speed weapons, 1h weapons are better,

You can go on as much as you want, for each 2h sword you’ll want to use, there will be another weapon combination that does the same thing better.

Aside maybe for some rare builds using specific legendary, maybe…

Too bad for greatswords lovers.

I am not so sure about this

Sheet damage might seem that way but you have more Pierce RR and hence would be better off with Pierce Sword

Also, i don’t know if i mentioned this but using Nightshade’s reach would gimp your DPS by a lot so don’t even think about it

Btw, great job keeping this updated

I wasn’t really thinking of nightshade’s reach, it might work with an acid/poison build but i have no idea how to do it.
And I have a vague feeling that dual venomblade would fare way better.

With the changes I’ve done on the last version, it got more physical RR than pierce RR and in fact its first damage is physical (a little more than 70% of damage is physical)
Break morale : 30 RR
Assassin’s mark : -28% RR
open hand of mercy : 12% RR
So roughly -70% Physical RR
Whereas for pierce it’s more like -50% RR.

And it works better cause I managed to get to oleron’s and have enough healing constellations for my taste.

But leviathan will indeed give more DPS, more base damage and more phys resist (I have tested it). But you’ll lose the adcth which you could remedy with a haunted steel.
You’ll also lose a bunch of attack speed but it’s compensated by the base damage the leviathan gives.

And it’s less cool

Edit : Why physical instead of pierce :

  • first, in my opinion, you got better constellations with physical than with pierce
  • then imperial claymore only got 22% pierce conversion, with sinister prefixe and blades of naadan you’ll have between 65% and 70% pierce conversion,
  • And 22% pierce conversion means 78% physical damage, more than what we can hope with those pierce conversion bonuses. With a 30% or 35% base pierce conversion a pierce build might be better but that’s not the case here.
  • And physical seems to be less resisted in ultimate than pierce even if you’ll have to pass armor (which is reduced by blind fury).

So yes, without a means to get to 100% pierce conversion, I think physical gives better results.

After spending days trying out different caster and ranged builds, i was looking for a 2H Melee build on the forum and i came across the topic if they are build viable or not and here found a link that led to this tread.

I’ve tried this build and i like it, great dps and survivability but i wanted to ask you some questions since you know more about me on this topic:

I’ve tested these weapons: Empowered Boneshard Lacerator - The Guillotine - Wildblood Crusher for have a bit of ADCTH and i found myself well with “The Guillotine” but in terms of DPS the “Leviathan” as a weapon is definitely better (since i crit 220k) but it has not the above bonus, only with Haunted Steel but so i would not know what to put as skill in Driade’s devotion.

I wanted to know if keeping this Blademaster build can you advise me for better survivability with little loss of DPS:

  • A different weapons.

  • Some change in Devotions.

  • And if this build is good for/with 1H-1H weapons.

Thanks and good game to you.

P.S: When i have a more time, i try to change Driad Devotion with Tortoise Devotion or other and apply Haunted Steel to other weapons.

Dryad ain’t the best healing devotion by far, Giant’s blood is way better (that’s what I use), if you intend on using dryad just bind it to 3-4 sec cd skills such as oleron’s might or blitz, or leviathan skill.

Leviathan is definitely the best weapon for a physical build, with haunted steel for adcth.

But you’ll have to make changes for it to work (being a mace and not a sword), basically you’ll keep the same key constellations, assassin’s blade and oleron (behemoth too), but take some others such as rhowan’s scepter to optimize mace damage.

For dual or pierce shield, blademaster is good too but not with this build, there are others on the forum, I’ll link them later cause I got no time now.

Thank you Redkain for your advise, don’t worry about others build, i already found on the forum.

I just continue with this build because it fits perfectly to my gameplay-style.

OK, for devotions here’s the mandatory ones, the others are optional :

  • Assassin’s Blade for the -28% phys RR
  • Kraken : for the huge 2handed boost
  • Oleron : must have for phys/internal trauma damage

Optional (good to get but you can do without)

  • Rhowan scepter : ideal for mace and gives affinity points to get to oleron
  • Falcon : falcon swoop is great on blitz or ring of steel
  • Giant and/or dryad : for heal, but you can do without if you can get enough adcth
  • Ghoul (third node) and revenant( fourth node) : for adcth if you do not take giant and/or dryad

Keep in mind that whatever you do you’ll need at least 7/8% adcth to get enough heal (even better if you can go to 10/15% adcth), you can achieve this by various means

  • constellations with ghoul and/or revenant, but you might not have enough points for it
  • haunted steel, easiest to get an to use but it reduces your damage
  • equips with adcth, can be hard to get and not go well with your resists/build, some notable ones, are MI pants : solael sect legguard with good affixes for resists, black star of deceit which also gives you physical RR

I also like this build because it’s really dynamic, and easy to handle.

For use with leviathan, I think I’ll test solael legguards with black star of deceit and ghoul/revenant, that should give you enough adcth and let you use oleron’s blood component. (EDIT : forget black star of deceit, it doesn’t stack with break morale)
In that case, I wouldn’t take giant or dryad, relying solely on DPS and adcth

Something like this for devotion : http://grimcalc.com/build/1009-fYlNub

Thanks RedKain!

I try too this Devotion Setup and make some test, but for now i use the original setup devotion ( Replaced Dryad With Lion ) and i change 1 ring with this:

https://gracefuldusk.appspot.com/items/7856-Lifegiver-Signet

With this ring i can use Oleron’s Blood and mantain a very good DPS - Survivability.

With your Devotion Setup maybe i can go even better now.

EDIT: I’ve changed Devotions according to your suggestion and atm i’m perfectly fine keeping the “Lifegiver Signet” as a ring and keeping 3 points on “Behemoth” Devotion without the “Ghoul” Devotion, good work Redkain!
