Hi guys, I wanted to ask for some advices from seasoned blademaster. I basically melted from all kinds of attacks in Ultimate difficulty. And by melted, I mean like less than 1s. 1 attack from a white-text enemy is enough to drop me below 30% health.
My armor is decent, my resistances are decent, my health points are decent. I do not have any idea why am I melting so quickly against any enemy. I had a level 82 sorceress and she could withstand any attacks aside from ones she’s weak at (her resistances are still in shambles), or basically, maybe some troll punches or Flehswarped Hulk charges. Her HP is even lower than my blademaster, although she has Maiven Sphere of Protection, I don’t really think that it will make THAT far difference in sturdiness.
I am currently looking for a way to increase my survivability. If anyone can give me some tips, it will be greatly appreciated.
P.S.: I know my gear sucks bad, I played this character pre 1.0.0.4, his legendary drop from 1-85 is only 3 times LOL
hp too low, physique too low, DA too low, armor too low, physical resist is something you should have a lot of as well. And decent Attack Damage converted to health totally required to enjoy ultimate on basically any melee build…
and what’s goin on with those weapons, you are not a lightning build. Those weapons are not what you should be using at all.
Your gear is a big reason for your challenges. Here’s another gearing / skills layout that tanks stuff reasonably well. BangCrashBoom grimtools (click here)
For defenses, roughly 2200 DA is a good total to have to reduce incoming critical hits to pretty much zero. Also, armor absorption is really, really helpful. For example, BCB has enough armor absorption that he has 100% reduction in damage from physical hits up to his armor total (armor is actually a bit over 2200 in-game, grimtools is giving a low total there).
I’d also suggest getting some double and triple resist items with good armor and life bonus totals (good rares or faction gear make a good solution for this, sometimes).
If you have some substitute gear laying around, then perhaps you can toughen up your blademaster. But, it’s possible you’ll need to drop back to elite difficulty and farm a bit, to be more clearly ready for ultimate or have another character farm up gear to be handed over to your blademaster.
I got an alt the sorceress which I’m currently playing. Maybe I’ll just do a few runs and keep an eye out for the gears for my blademaster. I notice that your character uses all heavy armors. Those kinds or armor does not grant any pierce damage bonuses. If I am to take heavy armors then I should switch to physical and internal trauma
It’s interesting how many people start with a dw blademaster but it’s really not a good starter build since it needs items for damage and the dw line starts slow unless you max dual blades.
Lifesteal is also not that common and a first char won’t have a stash or components so you would have to get it from devotion which you won’t since you see many shiny proccs. Good thing PB is awesome.
Having played a PRM build with nothing but legendaries, it’s just about average at that point. Won’t ever be great, but certainly isn’t as bad as many people here have said. Wonder if they ever played the build themselves.
Still, you definately need better gear to make this really work. Your Vitality Resistance is just too low with what you have. You could take Vulture instead of Ghoul, but that’d cut your ADCTH.
You could consider putting some points into Field Command. This skill will grant you some of the much needed defensive ability as well as increase your armor.
Well, yes, they can, but pumping up cunning via attribute points is nothing I would ever recommend to a new player for their first build. I’d always go physique all the way unless there is no way around putting a point or two in cunning or spirit because of stat requirements on important gear. Usually, you will get enough bonuses to those stats from other items, though, and many a person came to rue putting points into cunning and spirit which could’ve gone into physique.
Summing up, the bad news is: More or less everything is wrong with the character, including attribute point and skill point distribution, as well as gear choices. The good news is: All of it can be mended. So hang in there.
