As the title says farmers are not harvesting crops before they rot on the field, I have spaced out the fields in the crop rotation list so not all fields need harvesting at the same time and still 2 of my biggest fields with 7/7 workers didn’t harvest the whole crop and since I only have 4 fields I’m sure you can imagine food was a little scarce that year.

I found if my fields were a bit of a distance awayw from the main center, I needed to add storage near the fields. I use root cellars. ANd by a little away, I am talking brought 20 to 30 tiles.
Would be curious to see a screenshot of the fields, thanks!
Here are my fields
as you can see to the left of the middle field is a whole row of root cellars upgraded to tier 2 with plenty of room for another 4 I couldn’t get them closer if I tried, to the left of the town hall is my housing, I do have pics of the crop rotations as well so I’ll post those too (field 1 is top then it goes downwards).
Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
Also Field 1 just got an entire crop rot so I can’t see what I’m doing wrong.

What about storage capacity? I think this should be the solution. Sometimes few crop stay on my fields as well when the storage is full.
most often i lose crops to rot during attacks, because the farmers are garrisoned
hmmm more storage you say ? not a problem I’m in the middle of building 5 more tier 2 root cellars, hopefully that will solve the problem
ty for the advice.
you built fences all around but did you add fence gates ? I’m guessing the fields were sown before the gates got closed and now they have no way to access the fields
Yeah I don’t see any gates in the posted screen shot.
no no I have gates all the way around and 1 gate per field facing the road, was going to put another gate between the fields so they can change fields faster. I think you guys were right and it was a storage problem, they seem to b behaving after i built 2 more tier 2 root cellars now between the 7 total I have there should be enough room XD I’m building another 3 root cellars just to be sure but yes I think it was a storage problem.
When you click on the resources tab “Settlement Items” it will show the amount of each building you’ve built with the bar to the right of it being the total capacity of that type of storage and how filled up the bar is relates to how full the storages are overall.
See if there’s any difference with 2 or more gates?
It’s ok everyone it was just a storage problem, I added 5 new root cellars at tier 2 and now everything is working perfectly. Thank you for your time and help everyone
I’m still having this bug EVERYTIME I plant Wheat. I have 5 empty cellars, but the farmers don’t harvest the wheat for some reason.
You say you can’t move the root cellars closer? Take a look at the upper left of your top field. The road gets staggered to run right next to the fields. How about removing that road and running it straight down from where it is at the top. That will allow you then to move the root cellars right up next to the fence. Also, gates in between fields if you have a fence up between them still, or just open that gap up and fence the outside only. Make sure every side has a gate. That corner where the harvested crops are placed temporarily during harvesting is where you want gates for sure to get to the root cellars and (don’t forget) grain storage. Optionally, you can even move them to the right side and run a road outside of them for your wagons to get to.
I have also experienced this issue. I will include a series of screenshots.
I have all my farmers assigned, they are almost all nearby, they are available, there is ample storage 5 tiles from a gate, and all other chores are cancelled.
The chores that I cancel are field work and clover. I have also tried leaving those tasks in the schedule, there is no good reason for those to out-prioritize harvesting crops. Makes no difference either way.
Both times this exact problem has happened in this run through the crop was beans, but I don’t know the problem is beans, just coincidence because I plant a lot of beans early game.
I have also had similar problems with other tasks–like villagers dehydrating while ignoring the prioritized well build site next to the wagon stocked with the necessary materials. I didn’t have an opportunity to examine that sufficiently for a bug report.
Screenshots. Sorry for the flood, but I wanted to make sure there was no mistaking.
Plenty of farmers working in two nearby fields, then I delete their crop work and clover because I was not taking chances. They should have no effect on the harvesting theoretically; I have also run the save with those jobs in place with the exact same results.
There is a gate and an available root cellar 6 tiles from it; farmers walk past both as they exit the other fields. Yet the farmers switch to idle-no-work or fetching food.
For good measure I order a farmer into the field as beans fill in before my eyes. He waits for commands and then walks away from the field. A short time later, all beans rot in the field.
Most screenshots were taken in sequential order in a single run, plus a couple others I didn’t get the first time.
Having read about a prior issue with crops not getting harvested after save, let me add that this happened during a lengthy run, twice, then also recurs identically after my most recent save.
If this occurs regularly in that field, could you please send this save to [email protected]?
Saves are located in:
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\my games\Farthest Frontier\Save
Zip up the entire TownName_###### folder along with the .map file and .sav that reproduces the issue.
Thanks!
