Can Deadly Aim proc off Wind Devil or Storm Totem? I don’t see it proc off those skills but it procs easily from Empowered Lightning Nova. Why so?
No, I reported it as a bug.
It could be because of some combination of engine limitation and/or balance consideration.
Even if it is intended, the devs should state that in a clear way in the skill descriptions. Less inconsistences please
That would be hugely unwieldy because of the number of player-scaled pet skills and the number of item/mastery on-attack procs. A better idea would be to mention it in the game guide. The best idea would be to fix it somehow.
Probably a bug, it procs of Storm Box and item skills that don’t have %weapon damage so it probably should too with totems and wind devil.
As an aside, this bug/design choice is literally the only reason why I stopped trying to level a Rune-based Vindicator. The fact that Wendigo Totem, Wind Devil, Inq. Seal, and both Runes are ALL player-scaled pet skills means that NONE of them will trigger Deadly Aim. This is a huge dealbreaker for me.
omg this is even worse than I thought…
Unless you play a pet build and do not attack yourself, it really is not a deal breaker. It might be annoying, but it shouldn’t really be that big of a deal to you.
A high level Rune-based Vindicator can plop out both Runes every 1.44 seconds. And it may additionally cast WT, WD, and IS. That doesn’t leave much time for attacking yourself.
How a new player might even know about that? It looks like a bug.
I’m not arguing that. Although they might purposefully want you to proc off of a direct attack. It is called deadly aim after all. I was just saying that it shouldn’t be a “deal breaker”. It’s not that great of a skill anyway due to the long cool down. It’s worth a few points, but not quitting over it.
Use seal of blades in one of your weapon component slots it will proc all your item based procs and deadly aim.
Alright, I’ll consider that. This does seem like a band-aid fix to a wider and more general problem though.
I just want to know for sure whether it is a bug or intended.
Given that player scaled pets have behaved this way sense beta, I’m fairly confident in saying not a bug.
Is a rune a pet? It is laid on the ground like a mine… it feels confusing
Well since its working like that from the time I started playing GD I somehow dont look at it as a problem, at least not any more, its more like game design made like that on purpose.
Seal of blades is just idea how to overcome it, there are other things that will give similar or same effect, tho damaging auras, like the one provided by seal of blades, are best solutions imho.
Yep its a pet, like a inq seal, totems, wd, bs, etc.
I just wish GD was less confusing regarding things like that. I mean for a new player it is not intuitive to find out runes are regarded pets in GD. Even less that rune can proc , for example, Reckless Tempest but can’t proc Deadly Aim
It should be clearly explained by the in-game descriptions or the game guide somehow. Those ‘chance of activating’, ‘chance on attack’ , ‘chance to be used’ things are not easily to distinguish and fully understandable by a new player.
Happy Orhodox Christmas and have fun !
There are too many things do describe in that kind of detail. A good deal of the fun is to figure these things out.
Since I was new long time ago Im probably not the person that can judge about that objectively, but I do agree that some thing should be better explained.
Thx, same to you if you are celebrating
