just had a super weird thing happen, was running SR and things were fine/normal.
Last run i get +hp mutator, so things felt even better, then on the last boss room, everything started to hurt a crapton, Aleks, Lucius, even just Mossi/zantarin skeletons, actually had to run in circles and pick stuff off slowly because the sudden dmg spike was so intense/near lethal.
(enemies i’ve dealt with several times on this toon earlier, with worse mutators, and they weren’t remotely as dicey)
Only thing standing out was that prior to transitioning into boss room i got immediately hit by a sunder on exit portalling/Kaisan fired a sunder as last hurrah in chunk.
Thought occurred that perhaps, even if it should have been wiped during loading screen/transition, and no sunder screen effect or debuff icon would suggest that too, maybe the dmg taken increase effect somehow got carried over despite that?
Anyone know if that is a possibility or “thing” that happens? - or am i’m just reaching for tinfoil ?
Buffs and stuff don’t get wiped when transitioning areas, do they? They just stay on and wear off as normal. So I guess sunder can ‘stick’, but it should wear off very quickly I’d think.
by wiped during transition i mean, if buff/debuff lasts 2-3 second, and transition/loading screen takes 5 secs = wore off in the meantime
it’s just i can’t really get a hang on what caused the (massive) difference in danger/dmg, since i met those exact bosses several times prior, with stuff like TDM mutator etc while i didn’t have 2k bonus hp
yet all of a sudden i couldn’t facetank a single one of them (which had been the approach previous runs)
Maybe not too helpful, but:
By observing e.g. health regenerating during loading screens, I figured, “clock keeps ticking” during loading.
So I think Sunder won’t be wiped as soon as screen, but be carried over to the new section - But it should wear off anyway, eventually…
clock keeps ticking = if load screen is longer than buff/debuff it wipes during transition (not immediately/“because” of load screen but the duration itself)
you can observe this with a positive buff expiring (assuming your load screens are slow like mine ), wait until it has the 3sec clock started, portal away; buff “vanished” when you load back in
this is why i’m thinking Sunder/debuffs shouldn’t get “stuck”/frozen etc or invisibly locked in, since regular interaction is it should just time out normally. Thus sunder shouldn’t be the cause of the weird dmg spike, but then i just don’t know what could have if it wasn’t invisibly frozen sunder
TBH, when I build new characters, more often than not their defense turns out just contradictive to my expectations. “Why the hell do you tip over? You got everything you need! DA / DR / overcaps / absorption…”
How sometimes sheet durability and real life durability deviate, will forever remain a mystery to me.
Maybe your case is one of those… ?
no?
like i said, i was facing those exact same bosses, multiple times prior/“minutes before” - with worse mutators, that is why it stood out so much and was so confusing.
The char in question had run 5 sr trips, ie 30 chunks and 9 boss rooms, (without the sweet + 2k HP mutator it got on the last run), while those other times the enemies had both +TDM and + phys dmg etc nasty combos, and it was a full facetank fest with little concern.
Then on the last round/10th boss room that day (on that same char), not only could it suddenly no longer facetank those same bosses; even their minions hurt to a lethal degree, turning it from a full facetank to a slow kite fest clearing things/minions slows and dealing with Mossi, Zantarin etc from afar.
It was a stark night and day experience, “seconds” apart, hence the massive confusion
